Hi Pimmo have a look at ScoobyNet general, makes very sad reading. I had been wondering for a while how he was doing and to be honest having kids myself I feel absolutely gutted especially this close to Christmas not that anytime is ok but oh dear me what his parents must e going through defies belief.

Leslie you are boringly absolutely right but if you see the post by Infected by STI you will see that it is not always possible and plus if you are driving along normally on a normal day with normal weather you don't expect some tw@t in front to step on the brakes ESPECIALLY if you are below the speed limit. FFS
It is always possible to ensure that you can stop if the driver in front steps on his brakes. It is so simple, you just leave enough space between your car and the one in front-Why is that so difficult? Maybe you persist in tailgating if the car in front is driving too slowly for you...or even at the speed limit!
Part of sensible driving surely is to ensure that you can stop in any kind of an emergency,such as a child running out in front of the leading car! It is pure common sense isn't it? Do you think it would be unfair of the driver to slam on his brakes or perhaps's you would prefer him to run over the child so that you were not inconvenienced!
Do you advocate that we should all drive too closely at all times?

I think a few of you are blowing this so far out of proportion it could almost be considered trolling! 
Nobody at any point has advocated tailgating etc.
All that's been said is people who slam the anchors on when they get to a camera even if they're under the speed limit are pecker heads.
I don't think anyway will dispute that?

1. Because lots of people don't know the speed limit of the road they're on and/or;
2. With so many speed cameras used in roadwork sections with temporary speed limits, people can panic in case they've missed the signs.
You only have to be driving along a 60mph single carriageway to notice how many people pass fixed cameras at 50mph, massively due to reason 1 above in my opinion.
