Been told to get a RCM catch can apparently they are a good fit.Not had much luck in the wanted section so far. They are too expensive to buy brand new.

Plenty of much cheaper alternatives out there. They all do the same thing.

I had the Cobra SB04. Sounded great, fit well. Passed all track day sound tests. Not loud but definitely not quiet.

Nur Spec R is actually more than 3". It just tapers to 2.5" to join the standard system.

I also had a Nur Spec R system, I had the 2.5" cut off and made true 3" to join my true 3" long downpipe.

If you had said you want a loud exhaust I would have gone straight in with the Nur Spec R!

Nothing quite like it in my opinion:

Most definitely too loud.

Hence I also had the Cobra SB04 to guarantee my being able to hit the track.

subaru made the plug holes deeper, hence they dont crack like the earlier heads and use evo fitment plugs

My nur spec r was defo 3" as I had the taper chopped and a 76mm piece welded in, 80mm would indicate its 3.15"

80mm is right I believe. Tapers to 2.5" for standard centre section, but the pipe itself is a true 80mm.

The 3" pipe that replaced the 2.5" section of mine was definitely smaller than the rest of the centre section.

Good choice Dave, far better torque from the 2.5 are you going for a closed block conversion?
