The ref was shocking

I can't believe you can't see the possibility that it was dangerous play, worthy of a red? What other glaring omissions or mistakes did he make?
The ref is only shocking when the team loses.

Technically it was a red, but a harsh decision nonetheless.
Nani wasn't exactly aiming for him was he.

It was harsh, but within the window of punishment the ref was allowed to give. I guarantee that if he spoke to the Refs Association they would totally support his decision.

Always nice to see ABU's getting a semi on when United lose as their own team does nothing for them

By the letter of the law it was a red but in the real world Arbeloa was nowhere near him when he put his leg up to control it and the ball was just about to land on Nani's foot when Arbeloa decided to run into Nani.

I believe it was only "if" United won, they didn't so you shouldn't be, I hope that clears up any confusion you may have had

did Nani expect to get the ball with no tackle/presence of another player? I doubt it.
Was his foot at chest height - yes
Did he make contact - yes though inconsequential as his foot being up was enough.

Was it a rash decision by the ref? def not as he had 3 minutes to think and discuss.
Red card, off you go son.

No confusion, I just bought into the misplaced confidence expressed in all the post 1st leg comments. I was all ready to be incandescent with rage. It turned out not to be the case, which did put me in an almost uncomfortable state of flux. I'm now feeling a lot better.
Just to add, I don't like watching Manu but I watched the highlights last night after watching the live match to see if Ferguson turned up. True to form, he didn't.

Only mistake the ref made last night was not sending the twin off and awarding a penalty at the same time for his blatent handball on the line stopping a clear goal.

Yep, Keano was one of our best players and a Utd legend but he is certainly not biased towards Utd. Quite possibly the opposite infact, as there is known bad feeling between him and Fergie.

Anyone who thinks Keano is biased towards Utd (I will accept Neville is but he's Utd through and through) - is deluded. Look at recent comments from the past couple of years from Keane against Utd and you'll see what I mean.

Regardless, it was a good match last night (until the sending off - then it was one way traffic as to be expected). I'm 50:50 on the sending off depending on whether you go by the letter of the law or referee's discretion. As per, the ABU's were out in force looking for a bit of a rise but not being in the best of health I couldn't be arsed to reply last night

Hopefully a good match on Sunday. Double is still on.

He is biased but even he couldn't defend Nani last night, he's biased but brutally honest. All the bad blood talk is just horse sh*t, if they met up it'd be all smiles and handshakes.

You appear to have gone to great lengths doing something you "don't like" of late, you're on this thread more often than the usual troll. The Championship not providing you with enough entertainment after all?

The decision was harsh at the end of the day, yellow yes, but red - no way.

Bullsh*t. When you know what you're talking about come back. Keane has been more than "critical" against Utd for some time (with regards to his comments on MUTV and his ushering out of Old Trafford - read up about it) but you and others don't want to see it that way in agreement to your argument. As for now get in the corner with the other ABU's and their biased dribble

It was ok last night to be fair, nay actually enjoyable. By the way, my division is L2, soon to be Blue SQ Prem!

It was a shame as the match was very entertaining up til that point with a lot of attacking football. No intent from Nani but if it had happened the other way around I would not have been shocked with a red card so I am not gonna sit here and whinge about it. This is just laughable:

Had to laugh that it was Ramos who scored the OG. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer player. Dirty Spaniard.

After their 2nd they took their foot off the gas and we had plenty of chances tbh. Lopez made some fine saves. We certainly put up a better fight than Barca

Watch the slow mo, nani makes contact then appears to push his leg into arbeloa again

And because of this it was most certainly a red.

Good on Utd for attacking Real with only 10 men and making Diego Lopez make those saves.

To be fair, they needed to attack for the last half hour, ten men or not.

Saw worse in the final Spain v Holland, full on thugery for 90 mins and not one Dutchman was sent off.

I think it more to do with the money grabbers at EUFA having a downer on the English Premiership because they can't get their grubby hands on the dosh.

The thick Europeans cant compute a Dutch team resorting to such tactics, historically bringing through players like Rep, Cruyff, Bergkamp, and Marco Boogers. TOTAL FOOTBALL MUGGING.
