Olympic Torch on eBay!!!!
I kind of agree Les, but the Games has been whored out to Advertisers and Corporations for years now. Why shouldn't Torch Bearers be able to have a slice of the cake?
Lets come up with some idea's for a torch on our cars.
I'd use one as side pipes (exhaust) on the Legacz but i'd need to get some gold wheels to match..... driver side or passenger side , what do you reckon?
who said that the runner can buy their torch????? is that true or made up... sounds a bit bizare. " white tracksuit anybody????"

Alternatively buy a photo of it for £103.00

I'd agree in part to the comments about selling it, but it's to be expected sadly, this is todays society, although the woman who sold for £153K said she would use the money for a "worthwhile cause", hopefully not feeding her Kfc and crack addictions

She was interviewed by BBC breakfast.
She said she's using the money for a local charity.
However, she didn't say how much they're getting out of that 153K, and how much she's keeping

Many people are really struggling just to make ends meat. So if an oppotunity to raise a quick buck arose, of course they are going to take it. I'd much rather my family were fed clothed than having a gold olympic torch in display in my living room to 'show off' to friends and family.
Do you realise how many people are losing serious amounts of money due to the Olympics?
Try asking the self employed underground workers as well as many office works in the Dockland/Canary Wharf area. Many have been asked to stay away for 10 weeks to ease pressure on the transport system. Will they get a penny from the Olympics? Will they f*ck!
even if it was just 10k of that she gave to a charity, its 10k they wouldnt other wise have seen, if it just sat in someones house
im not bothered either way what happens to the torches tbh.
what icant believe is theres people willing to pay that amount of money!!
But she hasn't even done her leg with the torch yet!
I'd say she's using the charity thing to try and get a bit of heat away from he.
thats a bit of cheek then tbh i think!!
there should be a bit of respectful "downtime" lol - it does point to greed tbh, unless ofcourse its all going to charity.
Can't make up my mind if its right or wrong, at present I have a foot in both camps.
But as I regard you as 1 of the reasonable ones on here Les, whats your take on Olypians selling their medals? I know an Olympian in the 88 games who sold his bronze medal. Would you say he didn't deserve to represent his country?

"The person selling it did not deserve the honour of carrying it."
what a load of old bollocks - who the **** are you to judge someone??
maybe selling it to someone who really appreciates it is a good thing - maybe the person selling it desperately needs the money instead of hanging on to it - maybe it will end up on display so many people can enjoy it instead of it gathering dust somewhere
get off your high, morally perfect horse!!

That is what you are saying amounts to!
Les
Some will give the torch free to the runner while others will charge for it,about £155 I think they said.
Les
I would have sold it in a flash and not gave a toss about anybody's negative comments, some people may just be bitter that they never got it themselves or even worse, never got an olympics ticket.
I wouldnt want one in my house if it was worth that much, would be a thief magnet for sure. Plenty of more sentimental things i could buy for that kind of money.
I hope they sell to someone who is gratefull though.
All my opinion ofcoarse, doesnt mean im an ungratefull f*cker, just dont care about the olympics.

The 8,000 torchbearers who were chosen to carry the Olympic flame on its journey across the UK were nominated to run a leg of the Olympic torch because they had done something brave or inspirational in their communities.
Organisers had previously said they would sell the Olympic torches at a loss to the bearers.
They cost £495 to make and torchbearers could buy theirs after the relay at £215 each so they could keep a bit of memorabilia.

Bloody disgrace
If there is 8,000 of them out there I don't see how they are worth 150 k on eghey. A fool and his money are easily parted! I bet you could ask the factory to make you one for a couple of grand lol.
I see the BBC state propaganda apparatus is pumping our Olympic propaganda full blast at the monument. So much joy in diversity! The nation in Olympic harmony!
