Not going to get to the point of TOTAL calorie-counting, as it sounds a bit obsessive!
But it has worked out I have just under 2000 calories per day to use up.
Slice of toast is 159!
Cuppa tea isn't too bad, so circa 250 calories for brekkie (1 slice and a cuppa - the usual)

the other thing that I am really bad at, is not eating at all during day (and I never really feel like breakfast)
I find it really easy to go thru the day without eating, then I get home and am obviously quite hungry, so have a biggish meal before bed, often pasta etc
so it tends to turn to sugar over night
if I can just crack those two i will be back to my Pete Andre physique
I think weight (loss) and exercise are a complicated combo
Think we make it complicated, but really, do more, eat less = lose weight.
Our lifestyles are loaded against us, cars, office jobs and all that lovely food and booze, available 24 hours, doubt there were many proper fatties outside the upper classes before the sixties, this is a modern problem that is getting worse, this "Obesity Epidemic", look at the number of big people you see nowadays, used to be rare to get a massive fatty but now there are legions of people too fat to walk trundling round Tescos on mobility scooters, appreciate some will have genuine medical issues but there is no need to put that much on.
There were no big boned, stocky or medically fat people in the concentration camps, extreme and rather tasteless example but it shows that we all lose weight if we don't have enough food.

but I have trained for a few marathons in the past and I did not loose that much weight, presumably I turned fat into muscle (which is denser) and obviously if you train hard you tend to feel hungrier and need energy
anyway thanks of the App tip
About 240 cals here, 1 Oatso simple and two cups of Coffee, left it until I was ready, made it, enjoyed it.
Lunch, is half a tub of soup and a round of toast, Apple.
Tonight is one of my favourite meals, regardless of dieting or not, luckily it is quite healthy, home made Chicken kebabs. Couple of Pittas, One and a bit chicken breasts fried with a tiny bit of oil, peppers and some Chilli, sometimes put some pineapple in as well, serve in the Pittas with finely chopped Onion, Tomato, Rocket and Cucumber, few Jalapenos on top, reckon it is circa 600/700 calories and is awesome, very little fat, some protein and some carbs, load of vitamins and I look forward to it as much as any takeaway, difference today is not consuming three cans of beer as I cook it, was nice waking up this morning with a clear head, dont usually get a hangover but it does have an effect.
Will save some money as well, seemed to be wandering to the shop for supplies all the time, have to spend £10 to use Switch so ended up spending £12 twice a week.
Might sound like I am trying to convince myself but I am really quite happy about it, quite liberating once you have faced up to it, committed and seen a Little bit of positive change.

The calorie info is FASCINATING. I too love a good/bad kebab, and by the looks of it, the meat itself isn't too bad (considering) - the pita on the other hand
Got some home-made soup on the brew (veg patch and some bacon + stock) - should be good for my meals next week.
Haven't worked out what for lunch yet, but we're out today looking at cars
so by the time we get home, I'll be ready for dinner.....
Home-made basic pizzas. Nowt too big, and not much cheese
Will be interested to see what the calorie in-take is before sleep tonight.
Not as a de-facto, but more so as a reference, as the meal system isn't really changing, but the exercise aspect IS.
Check out the Wii Fit calorie burn. Taking into account multiple goes and a good 30 -60 mins, it's surprising how many calories can be burned.
Will have to find some batteries later!!

Pitta's are 160 cals each for white normal ones, these days it seems impossible to get a traditional Pitta kebab, they all seem to arrive in a Naan bread the size and thickness of a Baby's duvet which must be the thick end of 800 calories.
Soup is awesome for diets due to the water content, just need to avoid the really creamy ones.
Think the key is measuring stuff and getting a feel for quantities, homemade Pizza is great as you can control the amounts and focus on the sauce, veggies, quality meat and not hammer it with cheese, still calorific but not like the horrors that Dominos deliver, I have in the past worked most of the way through one of their large pizzas and then I just end up awake at 2 am desperate for a drink, still bloated. Sometimes though, troffing like that is good, just not every week.

Approx 300 cals for the chicken (weighed out)
Some for the salad (100 ?)
tiny bit of oil to fry is about 60
Bit of Chilli Sauce/Lemon juice
I am thinking 800 ish, or less if I go for just one, will have plenty left to allow for it, but you are right, need to not make assumptions.
A round of bread varies in calories from about 80 to 150, a pitta is like a slightly more calorific round of bread, so dont see how you could have 6 rounds of brown bread in lieu of a Pitta ?
My achilles heel is white bread, I simply adore it and will eat it all day long if I have the chance.
I think for me, switching to wholemeal bread is a good start and cutting out a lot of the crap such as cans of pepsi and crisps, a lot of evenings I'll get hungry about 9pm and will think nothing of demolishing 3 packets of crisps!!

6 pieces , not 6 rounds !
Can't think anything less appetizing than plain white English bread my God
I have the 2 pitta with rocket and bit ham lunch, usually with too much low cal dressing

Walked down to the village and back (very hilly) this morning, usually nip down in the car. I'm so unfit my legs ache!
My main push is to be more active with my son. As he's getting older and wanting to be more active I'm finding my back aches and I'm out of breath chasing him round after a short while.
I don't tend to eat that badly, but working from home means I do tend to meet people for lunch 2/3 times a week and I always pick badly off the menu, I can't help myself.
I know the key to losing weight is to burn off more calories than you consume and I'm trying to be more active for fitness and have pride in my appearance (comfort eater).
Although this morning, I'm not doing myself any favours. I've got bacon waiting for me in the fridge and I'm watching Man vs Food on Dave whilst catching up with some work....

I seem to have the opposite problem. I am just under 6'3" and only weigh just over 11st. I am not quite classed as underweight on a BMI calculator but on the lower end of 'normal'. Someone once said to me "are you on the Belsen diet?".

try got wholemeal pita's instead.
the size of the breast really needs to be known, usually 100g chicken will give around 25g protein, trim all fat off. use olive oil or similar.
also if it was 1.5-2 breasts, id split that up over 2 meals
have 1 pita with the 1 chicken breast and all the salad and veg, that should fill you up for a bit. you may feel you could easily demolish the other - but you wont be starving, then have the other hours later.
will help stop you snacking on other things later, and so reduce total kcal intake, plus provides a bit of mental releif knowing youll be eating tasty but good food later.
drink a pint of water with your meal as helps make you feel fuller.
eating little but more often can also help increase your resting metabolic rate
im starving now!!!! lol
also remember the total kcal intake isnt the be all and end all, where they come from is massivley important.
so i wouldnt overly worry if i was 1-200 kcal over my daily target, if it was mostly from lean protein sources/veg and a small amount of slow digesting carbs.
if it was from simple sugars or saturated fats mostly, the health benefit vrs the kcal increase wouldnt merit it, then youve got added problems of insulin production, from taking in sugars that is.
so keep it good and, even things like walking to the shops, or just walking more than you currently do, can allow you lee-way for slightly over eating.

Yeah, will weigh stuff as it is always less than you imagine and eating 1600 calories of White Bread and Crisps is no good as you say.
Not had much activity today as it is our maintenance weekend at work so its hours of patching servers and waiting for emails, done now so going to have my tea.
Im hungry now, have been for two hours, it is an interesting feeling, one I better get a bit used to.

just had my home-made pizza. Needed that as I was fecking starving!!
Still hungry, but not in a bad way (if that makes any sense!)
Might have a tiny tiny snack later (depending) still got loads of calories left in "the bank"
