Beginning of the end for the Euro, it has always felt to me like sharing a bank account with the neighbours on our road, I remember pondering it and wondering what the benefit was to the UK and all I could come up with was not having to change money to go on holiday and incur a service charge/rate rapeage.

Never saw this coming, Germans obviously didnt, pre Euro they could have just laughed at the stupid, lazy, inneficient, Ouzo swigging, olive munching greeks. As it is the Greeks
have got in, took the **** royally and now the rest of the Euro Zone has realised that they dont have a pot to **** in and their currency relies on them, ****ing marvellous, even the industrial leviathan that is Germany dont have enough money to bail out the greeks.

Going to be hard times in Greece if they do get kicked out, the rest will survive one way or another but the Greeks are fooked, they will have to all come out of retirement and get working, I expect they will wreck the joint and kill each other in the streets for a while before they realise that isnt helping and nobody gives a ****,never understood how wrecking your own country helps, feel sorry for the younger Greeks inheriting the whole mess but the rest, **** em.

Greece can bring down many countries, there will be civil war on the streets of Athens.

We are at the beginning of the end game ..... the greed of Bankers are responsible for this - I fully expect them to be hanging off lamposts across the land.
Pete, Greece had nothing to do with the start of WWI. Hell, they didn't even enter the war until 1916.

Their descent into financial ruin may cause serious problems for the Euro zone, but war? You need to take your pills man.

My OP did not say that Greece had anything to do with WW1 ..... just that wars have been fought over much less than a country/countries falling into civil war within europe!!

When you lose all your lifes savings, when you lose your job and all you hold dear - it's very easy to be driven to extreme measures as you have nothing to lose.

My many years on this planet have taught me the wisdom of my words - you would do very well to heed them.

People are focusing overly on Greece. Greece itself is not really the problem, its economy is so small compared to the rest of the eurozone, it can be comparitively easily saved if the political will exists. The real problem is if Greece goes, what about Spain and Italy? There is the REAL problem. Their economies are much larger and cant be bailed out by the rest of the eurozone (and under a stupid EU stability mechanism, being EU members we can end up with part of the bill as well). Its simply time to leave the EU. Its proven to not work. How much more proof do you need?

You will have to be a lot cleverer than that to succeed!
