i7 2700k £240-£250

Any thoughts on this eBay offering, it's from Germany it appears to use good quality components and it seems to be cheaper than buying the components, the only thing I'd really do to it would be to upgrade the PSU and fit a SSD.

But that price of the i7 is very good in all honesty.

quick run through novatech again and the same ish system £656.90 so yes its built and tested but how much hassle IF it goes wrong sending it back to germany, the choice as they say is yours .
dont forget to add operating system to the price too.
the reality is you can go for an i5 and still get very good results, and save at least £100

I didn't get a chance to go to Novatech today but I am definitely getting there tomorrow, as I was looking at their site I found the following 'barebone' system based around an i& 2700k.
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/b...bb-i7278c.html
The components seem good, I would just have to add a SATA HD and SSD, a further 8GB of memory plus a GFX card and that's about it. Ok the case isn't exactly my cup of tea but I might see if I can get them to change it for something a bit nicer.

Plus I could easily get hold of another and run them in SLi mode.
About the your barbone bundle,i would say this case is really ****(my friend have this case and really this case looking like tool-less but is not,due this buy anything from CoolerMaster, good is too HAF912),not sure about the MB(think Novatech using usually on they bundle Foxconn MB which are not bad,but limited in some aspects like overclocking),16GB(8GB yours extra) will be enough for anything in future,750W will be enough for one GPU and not sure if will be OK with two GTX570,HDD you will know what you are need and about the SSD you will see,but Crucial M4 looking like winner for price(Intel are pricey)

does look a good price.
glad you got a bargain on ebay. more than i have managed for a while, starts low then some numpty jumps in at a high price and it finishes nearly as high as buying a new one, then they add p&p and hey presto second hand stuff at over new price.

Well I've been to Novatech today and picked up the barebones system that I listed above (lucky as well as its the last one in the UK), but I added the following very much along the lines of Jura's recommendations:
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600mhz Ram
Corsair H60 CPU Cooler
Seagate Barracuda SATA3 1TB HDD
Crucial M4 128GB SSD
Pioneer BD Read/Writer DVD Drive
Plus of course the 570GTX I picked up yesterday and I'm hoping that it makes for a fairly decent system.
Whilst I was in Novatech I spotted a nice 28" widescreen LCD monitor which caught my eye, anyone got any recommendations?
Plus anyone running Hackintosh on their PC's? Can it be run under a VM or run in parallel with Windows?

Good spec Ty,what case you are bought or you will be used Novatech case?
Spec of the PC are good, about the Seagate HDD they're noisy,i would go with WD Black or Blue series they're faster and much quieter, but that's it
About the 28" LCD, i would have look for Asus 24" or even 26-27" LCD(usually you can buy now easily LED for same price),just depends how much you are preparing to spend,if is budget high, have look for 30" DELL(£790 upwards price)
Now about the Hackintosh is easy to do and with new UEFi BIOS is easily to do and make perfect Hackintosh which will work as normal OSX
Have look on this, this can help

Plus with VMware is easy to do,Oracle VM Virtual Box is free and easy to use and VM images of OSX are free available on tor...nts

That's what I thought would be the easiest, and I like easy.
Thanks Jura, the reason I went for Seagate is just out of personal experience is that I've had WD, Hitachi, Sansung and the now defunct Maxtor drives fail on me but never a Seagate drive but I do tend to have more bad luck than good.
The monitor can wait for a little while as my wallet has taken a pounding this month and I'm having coilovers fitted this weekend but as they say it's no good being the richest corpse in the graveyard.

Hi Ty
I went everytime with CooleMaster on mine builds, because offering great and easy cable management, plus cooling of those cases is top,i've build one PC with i5-540 with 16Gb RAM and ATi 6770 GPU plus H60 CPU Cooler and this PC is build in the CoolerMaster HAFX case and temp are around 25C(but lowest which i recorded is around 16C with this cooler on full speed, but he's too noisy for me,now running around at 30% and 21-25C are on idle and under load are temp still under 31-35C)
I never have problems with WD or Samsung, this is like with everything, sometimes is lucky draw, when you are buying stuff, just good to have is it Warranty
Agreed about the monitor, what coilovers you are bought?
I'm looking forward for pictures of your car with coilovers

I bought a set of BC coilovers as I have heard good things about the current type (with the rubber OE type top mounts), unlike the earlier Apex/BC coilovers which I had fitted on my Spec C which were bloody awful.
I also have a set of Volks Time Attack Centre Caps which I bought form the USA plus a set of Volks Formula Wheel Nuts to go with the CE28N's so I will be eating cold beans for a while yet.
I love Volks products I just wish they weren't so bloody expensive.

Volk products are and will be expensive still, due quality and mainly due durability/reliability.I love the Rays, but price for wheels(RS-D) what i would like is around £2k,in USA are cheaper but import tax and VAT and you will pay same or similar amount like here.Problems with Volk and Rays wheels when is comes the refurb wheels is almost impossible get them refurb right(yes similar, but not as original),Love your wheels

I would wait 2 weeks and get
Z77 mobo
Ivy bridge
Gtx 680 pci3.0
16 gigs ram
Ssd plus storage hdd
Of course reviews pending. Ivb reviews have been done but can't publish due to nda's.
680gtx looks very good.
Both 680 and ivb will be lower power so you wont need a monster psu.
For 900 you can prob just do it. Ivb will be priced the same as sb. Main variable on cost will be case, mobo spec and gfx.

Too late I'm afraid, I did enquire about Z77 boards yesterday but they all seem to be half measures so far, and not up to much as they all seem to be Z68 boards which have been repackaged into the new wizzo standard.
At some point in the future I may well get a Z77 board but at present I think I've made the right decision until they've been out in the marketplace for a while.
