These young men/boys are totally emasculated, they will never become adult males in any true sense, they will never understand or get to experience the responsibilities of bringing up children and providing for a wife and family with a "job" – which is what society projects (in virtually every media) as the ideal model
Deep down they know this, and checking constantly to see if they still have a **** is the only thing left that validates them as male
