Buying a scooby is the easy part the hard part is running it. If you cant afford the fuel you would be far better off with a TDI (Golf TDI or Leon TDI or something). This month so far I have bought new rear shocks £250, new Tyres 500 and 12 months tax that was a cool 450 and fuel at 80 per week. That tax is only from march 06 on

Iv'e come from an RS focus 2003 and as the guys have said,on these types
of cars you will only be seeing 28/30 mpg tops,on a miss daisy run.
When having a bit of fun you might only see 14/20 mpg.Iv'e have just sold
a fiesta ST and was only getting 30/32mpg on a daily drive.I only do 60 mile
a week going to work and back so thought i would try the subaru scene.I did'nt spend much,so if it's not my cup of tea, hopefully i won't lose much.

I pick it up on Sunday .It's the 2001 UK300 out of the
for sale section on this site.I gave him the £5.5K he was asking
for the car because of the history of the car.I did'nt want one with
part SSH loads of owners. He has owned the car for 10yrs and is a
mature driver like myself. Some guys reckon it's around a grand over
priced but i am happy and thats all what matters.

Running it wont be so bad as I've decided not to go mad on tuning it (280bhp should be ample). But there is always the option of a cheap, small engined petrol car and running that daily....

Are there any typical faults/concerns to look out for with the 56 plate hawk eyes?

Thanks
