Nice looking build,
I'm going to be doing a bit of an engine build in the near future, so i'm looking for a decent parts wash. Are those ultrasonic cleaners any good?

Dan.

Not much progress recently, hopefully some parts are gonna arrive in the next day or two and then of to powdercoating and then full steam ahead.

I got one little job done today, cleaning the engine bay. I was dreading this as I thought it was gonna take hours and be a real bitch of a job. Turned out easy peasy.

A few rounds with the jet-wash and snow foam and then a little brushing with some degreaser and wipe down.

Dirty bay before:

After:

All nice and clean now, the pic's don't do it justice as it looks almost new again. Can't wait to get this build rolling

a few more from Tim:

one before cleaning after the machining

Just drop a load of parts over to powdercoating and they're gonna pull all the stops out to get them done for Monday as we're gonna do the build Mon/Wed - happy days

Today was build day. Had an early start, gonna try and get as much done as possible as waiting for a few parts and then finishing off on Wednesday.

Collected the powdercoating parts. Got to say a massive thank you to D&S coatings for pulling out all the stops and getting them done over the weekend. The finish is top notch - very happy

here are some pic's of the build:

We got rid off all the air pump system and luckily had these lying around which cam in handy

That's it for today, hopefully have it all finished on Wednesday and then meeting Duncan over the weekend for the running in map. Had a great day

Very long day today. Was able to finish the engine and fit it all up. Great to hear it up and running again, its been too long.

Some pics from the day, they got a bit sparse towards the end as we were working hard to get it finished.

New clutch fitted, total waste of money as hoping to be fitting 6 speed in a month or two

and in you go

Was able to relocate the catch can as got rid of all the air pump system

Good job I've got some good floodlights so we could carry on

We were able to make a much better pipe for the R/V

Went out after for a quick run and all is good. Hopefully meeting Duncan over the weekend for its running map.

What a day, totally shattered after a long day but hands up to Tim. Works like a Trojan and has an amazing knowledge of scoobs. Brilliant engine builder.

Cheers

Met up with Duncan today for a running map . It was great to get out in the scoob and give it really good run. Give it a few more weeks and then he'll be able to put on the full map.

Hi Gez nice project. I'm embarking on a similar project myself, Mr Finch is building me a 2.35, I also have a WRX so getting it to it's full potential is going to take a little longer, with the need for a 6 speed etc but hey, who needs food anyway!

Nice to see it coming along

Cheers Iain. Paul is a cracking bloke, you're in safe hands. Make sure you keep us up to date on your build to mate

I feel ur pain on the 6 speed mate, hopefully getting one in a months time. I just can't wait to get the full map on and start enjoying it.
