Some of the claims people make between the two are hilarious.

Pulled this from another forum, seems to explain it well. Providing it's true anyway.
You will not notice a performance problem with Tesco's 99 RON unleaded. Badged as 'Tesco Momentum 99.
But the fuel itself is a basic 95 RON unleaded fuel laced with bioethanol to a maximum of 5% by mass. Ethanol is very good at inhibiting pre-ignition as it does raise the Research Octane Number of the fuel to which it is added. Tesco's petrol is produced by Greenergy. Or, at least, most of it is.

Like you say pulled from another forum so could be anyones guess?
Because as we all know there is a lot of horsesh!t that floats around in internet land.
Fact of the matter is that nobody really knows (except Shell & Tesco) & there must be a reason for that.So people make up there own theory.
All I know is that I will only put shell in my car if I can (luckily I live a mile from a shell garage) & will only use Tesco if I have no other choice.
I have noticed though that when I do use Tesco, according to my butt dyno I lose 14.6 bhp

I had mine remapped (by JGM) while running Momentum.
He calculated 348/358 before (I have got a dyno with the FSH showing 362/360) and 373/389 after. Haven't put it on a dyno yet though.
The car feels a little more responsive around the 2k mark (as said/implied the human body isn't going to perceive a consistent difference), but definitely produces more mpg, 22-24, against 20-21.
I ran 4 or 5 full tanks of each (leaving it down to around 5l in the tank) and the results were consistent.
Strange how some are better with V-Power/Nitro+ and others with Momentum. One of life's mysteries I suppose.

I believe they are the same fuel with maybe the shell having more additives.Does anyone really think that Tesco have there own fuel plant that makes 99 ron fuel? I doubt it very much.Tesco must buy there fuel off shell surely? Anyone that says they can feel a big difference between the two is talking through there butt dyno.
i can feel the difference
Mine runs poor on Nitro too
T99 is achieved with additives, Nitro is blended to 99 RON
i get more mpg with t99, 330bhp blob wrx. I did a 250 mile run using one each way, (Sheffield to Brighton), t99 was 36mpg on way there, nitro was 32mpg on the way home (IIRC) one reply said I got less back to Sheffield because i was going up hill

SUL fuels are allowed to use up to 5% bioethanol.
As others have said they are both 99 octane and you would hardly notice any difference between the two.
Saying this the V-power "goes off" quicker IMHO.
I get better mpg with Tesco 99 which wouldn't make sense if T99 had more bioethanol than Nitro.
Also no phantom knock with T99 either.

If you can really tell the difference thne there's a few F1 teams who would like your input.
We should set up a blind test and see if these people can tell the difference when they don't know what it is first

I didn't strip the engine after the differing fill-ups.
All joking (not sarcasm) aside the performance differences aren't going to be noticeable - or rather, provable - because of reasons already said.
The only factor is the mpg but then again sometimes I do more longer, 5th/6th runs on a tank than the commuter-style one-step, two-step ones, and at other times it's the opposite.
I'd say the key thing is not to worry about putting T99 in if you're low on Nitro+ and in a strange part of the world.
After all, I'm not concerned about putting a more expensive equivalent to Momentum in mine when I spy a Shell garage and the amber light's just come on
