Depends on your interpretation of "Best" i suppose ??

As previously stated, an Impreza is not a supercar. It is a 4 cylinder, Japanese saloon built to a budget, which happens to have a better than average 0-60 time due to 4 wheel drive and very short first and second gears.
Have you recently passed your driving test?
So the statement that the P1 is a "Supercar" (defined by certain things it has to be able to do) by the manufacturer is a blatent lie then is it ??

Do you not think if that was the case someone in the last 11 years might have taken them to task on that ?

And no i passed my test in 1995 as it happens .....................

I wouldn't put too much store by the story of a P1 being classed as a 'supercar' for type approval.
http://www.carenthusiast.com/news0910/subaru_1.htm

Notice the word supercar is in quotes, it is probably just another subtype for approval say type M7v or whatever that Prodrive or IM have decided to hype as supercar.

Notice by that definition the Forester XT with PPP is also classed as a 'supercar'

Quickest, best handling, stronger engine, stronger gearbox.
Spec C would wiper the floor with a P1.

But like you said.... the P1 has a nicer bumper.

No they aren't

The P1 is the same as the V5/6, but a V3/4 is different, as is a 22B bumper.

Maybe, who knows?

IIRC it was LJK Setright of CAR magazine (one of the great motoring writers I've read) who 30 years ago defined a 'supercar' as:

"... a car that can accelerate from 60-90 as fast as it can get from 0-60."

Nothing to do with bhp, design (or top speed or handling).

Don't know if anyone's come up with a better definition but it's stuck because as cars get quicker it gets harder and harder to achieve.

Don't have a clue which is the best ever Impreza; I've only ever driven 4 of them, two of which I own and I constantly think up excuses to go and drive 'em.

Manufacturers make statements in order to sell thir product.
Remember "Peugeot, the drive of your life" " If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen"

While way back 11 years ago,the P1s performance raised an eyebrow,it raised it because it offered supercar levels of performance, at a budget price. That does not make it a supercar.
A proper supercar offers performance without compromise.
My apologies for suggesting you recently passed your test, I assumed your agefrom the immaturity of your posts.
The stark reality is that you're posting about a topic you know nothing about on a forum frequented by those who do.

I did wonder that, but most P1 owners are grown ups with better things to do with their time.

. I really hope it's nobody from the P1woc, it seems P1's are getting some bad rep at the moment.

Again YOUR interpretation of a supercar is quote "Performance without compromise"

It would appear there is already an official definition of what a supercar is or isnt, and it would also appear that the P1 qualifies for being called as such.

I dont think there has been anything particularly immature about my posts (far less so in fact than some of the replies i have had)

And perhaps, just perhaps i know a WHOLE lot more about Subaru's than im letting on

Nah he is over from the Nissan Micra owners club for some casual trolling

BTW Harry, there is a difference between supercar performance, and being a supercar. "Supercar" has become a word bandied about by marketing and motoring journalists, but because one uses the term, doesn't make it true.
