mm, just found this.
'Local resident David Akinsanya said he arrived at the scene moments after the incident.
He said he was told by a witness that a police officer had shouted to the man to stop "a couple of times", but the man had not heeded the warning.'

This might be the case with more chavier parts of the black community however the same can be said for everyone. You only need to go into any shopping centre to see it populated by pushchairs and millions of single mums.
In fact i wonder what the average bus looks like during the day. Is the ground floor packed with pushchairs? Anyone know?

I'd be more worried if the men were also walking about in the shops rather than being at work...

have to say cooky's got a point, most men are at work during the day and mums tend to go shopping in town when the shops are open, which surprisingly is durign the day. i bet most of those women with pushchairs arn't single. also i dont see many women with pushchairs on there own oin a sat when i go into town.

What do you base your assumptions on here? My wife pushed our daughter round the shops and shopping centres in a pushchair, I guess most of the time on her own, or accompanied by a friends with their kids in pushchairs. Just because the husbands/partners are not also there doesn't make them single mums.

The community centres thing doesn't stack up.
As someone said, after the last lot of riots at Broad Water Farm the area had tons of money chucked at it yet the problems persist.
They don't go to the youth centres or if they do it is to burn them down or cause trouble, that's why they end up shut.
It is just another excuse to blame someone else for their own failings at life.
IMHO

You have made some really good points on this thread, was talking to a Muslim colleague at work who seems to think very like yourself who is getting pissed off with other members of his community who seem to go to the mosque a lot but are up to allsorts, he reckons that they cant be good Muslims, despite praying alll the time as the Koran says that gettign money dishonestly is "Haraam", he also cannot be doing with the Muslim/Pakistani thing of not integrating.
Nobody expects anyone to drop their own culture or whatever but you sound like you have your head screwed on, not giving attitude to the Police, ok, the Police arent perfect but I think they have more crap to deal with off the public than we do off them, the right attitude goes a long way.
I think some of the black culture is messed up, as has been mentioned the several kids to different women and the glorification and celebration of criminality, millions get spent on these communities but despite the efforts of a lot of decent members of the community there seems to be more effort dragging it down from these men who want to be all "Gangsta", to be feared and respected, to have money, to get women, there doesnt seem to be much respect to be had in working and looking after your partner and a couple of kids.
Its the same in white communities as well, scrounging, theiving, drinking, smoking, breeding, all payed for by some other mug.

One thing to blame for the downfall of our country..........................
The Welfare State
Imagine what it will be like in another 20 years! Too many kids born with no prospects and parenting skills seem to be pretty bad in benefit communities

I have a Canadian Pakistani customer at work who told me the difference between the Pakistanis in Birmingham and those in Canada. He said if someone told you a Pakistani guy had stolen something in Canada nobody will believe you as they generally seem educated and have strong morals. He then went on to say that if something is stolen in Birmingham your first thought will be where is the nearest Pakistani. A little skewed but i could understand where he is coming from.
Moving on, we can't as a society deny that there are problems within the black community. Opening 'youth centres' is not the answer. How long can a teenage lad play ping pong for? There is a reason why these kids find gangs attractive, we need to find out that reason and somehow compensate so for it.
How about.... boy scouts?
What we need is to start sending more kids to join the boy scouts.

National service. Leave school without finding a job then your straight into the army for two years.
That should sort them out, cheap cannon fodder to.
Hopefully they might actually understand what real respect means after than.

It is indeed sickening to see this sort of behaviour. Imagine your wife out with your young kid in the pram having to walk through this group of immature teens. Or worse yet, being confronted by them for money/phone.
I can only imagine this pathetic mentallity has been build from all this 'gangsta' rap that comes from america.
Before someone comes and defends them for whatever reason, i have been confronted by groups of young guys with balaclavas on, all on bmx's, demanding a phone or they'll stab me in the face. There is no defending them, should their own behaviour be their own undoing, i'd gladly welcome it. People like this dont go to prison and come out born anew, they're attitude multiplies and worsens.
It's a real shame but a real problem

When you've got no job, the "glamour" of gang culture must be appealing. After all, we did it in the playground when we were kids. But these spineless thugs just need the law being handed out to them with zero tolerance. Instant jail with a PROPER sentence for any knife or firearm, banning of bloody pathetic hoods in public, banning of any face covering from scarves, i could go on.
Stigster, they're = they are.
Stigster, they're = they are.

It seems that there is a common factor in the Black community of not having a male role model. The fathers seem to just **** off and this has happened for generations, so now we are 3 generations deep into people with no positive male guidance in their lives.
A consequence of this is they have no morales or respect.
Before anyone calls me rasict, we have a family member with 3 kids to Black men who confirms this is a common thing.

That video featured a gang called starish. The same gang local pillar of the community 'starish mark duggan' was a memeber of. The locals should be praising the Police for shooting such an obvious *****. These dick heads riot because in a life where they are bottom of the barrel in social terms they are trying to kid themselves that they control the area, that they have some influence on the world around them. These kids were not born into a ghetto they created one. A generation raised on glorified ganster rap, they tried to emulate what they see on rap videos and watched boyz 'n' the hood too many times.
Their aspirations are about the 'bling' and being able to bully others. I have no sympathy for them they created the gangster life, now don't complain when reality catches up with you.

I've been a life long hip hop fan and some of my favourite tunes would fall under the "gangster rap" label but it definitely does influence those of lower intelligence.
Funnily enough, I watched a spoof film all about the North London Gang culture last night. Its a spoof of Adulthood and Kidulthood directed by Noel Clarke

everywhere but looking after their kids ,its not cool for a gangsta to be there ,too much like hard work, and they don't have a clue how to father a child as they likely as not werent fathered as a kid themselves hence the gangs and acting tough,
