Sounds dodgy i would give it a wide berth, there is plenty out there.Maybe not at that price but as they say you only get what you pay for its too cheap for a reason.

it's cheap because there is £4k plus in parts missing from it.
from what it says about engine rebuild my guess is that the engine blew and the owner decided to break it, was able to sell the popular bits ie gear box brembos spoiler light clusters and body kit then got lumbered with the rest of the car and enough cash to rebuild the engine so probably came up with the bright idea of a rear wheel drive scooby

No need to call sherlock just ask ditchmyster

I have been watching the 01-02 sti prodrives verry closely since jan as i am after one myself and this one is a total mess its way to cheep and is priced to off load quick.
A normal sti porodrive is between 4800 for high milage examples to 5800 for imaculate ones there are a couple out of that range but really dogs or on more expensive as they got some tasty bits on them.

I wouldnt touch what you have found its just a mish mash and what would its resale value be when you came to sell.it you would get stuck with it no one would want it IMHO

I would not touch it personally

+1 for the above, elementary Mr Myster ,have to say imho ,there is no point advertising it as a prodrive sti, because quite simply - ' It's NOT,most of the best bits have been sold on .
However a RWD 320 bhp impreza would make an interesting car imho ,there is a lad by where i work, who has an orange bugeye with 320+ bhp & rwd and it is mental .

Can't believe this thread!, the ad is genuine!, I am the owner, and yes it was offered to Phil first as he was originally interested, I even told him I'd had an offer from Dave!

The car is genuine, I got it cheap because of the parts that had been sold, i.e Bumper, Brembo's, Alloys, and 6 Speed Box.

To answer the sceptics, the engine blew on the car, the original owner couldn't afford to repair it, so started breaking it, i.e 6 Speed Box, Prodrive Front Bumper, and Brembos.

The rest of the car was sold 'as is', and was bought as a track day project, it had a full engine rebuild at Area 52 in Nottingham with receipts to prove, and a recon 5 speed box fitted, it was RWD converted as he also wanted to use it for drifting, hence the s202 adjustable carbon spoiler.

I was having second thoughts about the car, due to the costs, but have now sourced the parts, i.e Brembo's - £500 front, £200 rear, Prodrive Alloys - £200, and Prodrive front bumper - £200 (yes that's a real one!), so hardly £4k of parts, I calculate £1100!

And as midnight said, 320bhp through the rears makes this a very special car!

Sorry Phil and Dave, I am a trusted member of MLR and CTRO, wouldn't sell anyone crap, but thanks for making me realise that this is a keeper!

err..........the advert is not "genuine" as it's not really a "MY02 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type UK Prodrive Style" as so many bits have been removed

The killer is the removal of the STi 6 speed box and the replacement with a recon 5 speed unit.

If you wish to keep it then you might wish to think about reinstating the 6 speed box .......I had my 5 speed converted to 6 speed by API and didn't get an awful lot of change from £2k

If it said 'WRX' on the logbook, fine, it's not misrepresented, it left the factory as that, and it still is, regardless of changes or mods!, I stated all the parts removed and those parts will be getting put back on.

The advert stated it had a 5 speed gearbox, very clearly !

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

How would you advertise it?

An STI Prodrive with bits removed? and changed?, because that's exactly what it is .....

Regarding the 5 speed gearbox, it's recon, and is perfect, so why fix it?

You forgot to mention £2500 for the gearbox, so not so far off £4k.

AS far as i'm concerned the op came onto the forum asking about a car and why it was so cheap.
My response was almost bang on with regards what happened to the car.

I never said you or the car was dodgy just the facts as i saw them.

Not sure how MLR or CTRO work as i'm not a member, but over here when someone who is not in the know asks a question, i and many others on this site try and give the benefit of our experience to them.
It's then down to the op what he does with that information.

It's called being part of a community

Thanks Dave

Am picking the parts up tommorow, bumper, and spoiler, and won some gold 17" alloys and tyres for £85!, bonus!

It wasn't the opinions of the forum members regarding the car, it was the defimation of my character that was the issue, I honestly explained the details regarding the car to EVERYONE who contacted me regarding it, as Dave rightly said, it was a car that was priced accordingly to take into account the parts removed, thanks for your input again Dave
