Do you HATE cyclists ? POLL

Contrast that to places like Perth in Australia which designed cycle lanes along with roads. They didn't just build roads then think 'oh let's see where we can put the cycle lanes after', they built them parralel to the roads (but not on them) or as a seperate network.
No more a problem than horses, slow tractors, invalid carriages.

Well there are lots of motorists with 'tudes but I wouldn't characterise them all as bad apples (except Audi drivers).

Well, you're never too experienced not to fall over. I fell over twice in my first lesson in January, and then kept catching an edge few times over the week. I wouldn't worry about it, though it does hurt when you're nearly 40 like me. I had right knee trouble, I kept bloody falling on it! It's OK now, ready for another week!

That's the irony of cycling, it can actually be easier, if I go to the Post Office I can lash the bike to something directly outside, in the car I park in the leisure centre, walk a fair distance, cross at a Pelican, pay 50p to park or take a chance with the parking warden, same at Sainsbury's, ok no good for a full shop
but for a few bits (quite a bit with panniers, 18 bottles of wine is possible ) its brilliant and you can chain the bike to the trolley park, right outside the doors and again save 50p, annoys me when I have to go in the car.

But the real irony is that if you sampled a random 1000 cyclists and cycle enthusiast against 1000 car drivers (who don’t cycle)
The cyclist would win (as an average) on every single socio economic measure
Better educated
Better paid. More economically useful and productive (pay much much more tax)
Higher intelligence
Fitter, healthier - less drain on the NHS
Lower criminal conviction rate
Lower use of the welfare state
And on and on
The anti cycling attitude just sums why this country is fvcked tbh

Quite happy to pay "Road Tax" on my bike, based on the car rules, oh, look it produces 0 grammes of c02 per km so is exempt. - No, but YOU do ! Increase heart and respiratory rate √
Does it cause potholes, er no. - Potholes are usually formed by the expansion of freezing water fragmenting tarmac and then rain washing it away
Can I use motorways, no - Would you want to
Are some roads too dangerous to use, pretty much - I'd say anything with a limit over 30
Do bikes need 20ft wide roads, no - That could depend on the individual
Would I be allowed to use more than the leftmost 2ft of the road even if I paid £450 a year, no - You are already allowed to use as much as necessary with consideration
If people who cannot afford to use a car cant use a bike, what are they meant to do ? - Walk, taxi, bus, train
Do you really want to displace say all the cyclists in London back into cars, wonder what would happen. - Don't care, London can decay into a festering pit of poo for me
Do you really not get the joy of doing 30 miles on a bike and not handing the government 4 or 5 quid ? - 30 miles in my car would only be £2-3
Do you moan about fuel prices, then drive 2 miles, pay to park and then drive back ?, - I hardly ever pay to park
Do you not realise that you may have to change your habits as the £2 litre approaches, or are you going to do a King Canute, waiting in vain for the prices to drop ? - Nah
Are you going to sell your car for a tiny diesel to save fuel, getting pennies for your Scoob and paying 15 grand for the motoring equivalent of gruel ? - Saw this coming and sold my Scoob for a good price, and my replacement is nearly as much fun but does 55+mpg
Do you really enjoy sitting in traffic ? - Couldn't tell you the last time I did
Are you actually scared of riding a bike ? - No, love it, off road

To a point i understand their confusion re cycling– what is the point of a mode of transport where you can’t eat or smoke

Morley it's because most of the 'cycle lanes' in the UK were designed as an after thought. Contrast that to places like Perth in Australia which designed cycle lanes along with roads. just thought of a few more things that wind me up.
cyclists' holy-er than thou attitude, when they rest on your car on the rare occasion that have actually stopped at a red light, cycling next to each other especially on country roads, when the council closes roads for road races, road races, when people cycle at night with no lights, hi vi or wearing black clothes, when they know you want to get round and deliberately sit in the middle of the road, when the council steals some of the road for cycle lane like where i live the roads are now so narrow that two cars can only just get past.
im sure there is more but cant think now.
oh and i really dont think an anti cycling attitude is why this country is fvcked up. although that did make me laugh.
i doubt i could be done for dangerous driving if i dont speed and give them a wide birth.

I stop at all red lights, cant help it, conditioned into it as a driver so never run them as a cyclist, apart from the fact I get scared of getting splattered from a car or truck coming the other way,
With regards to lights, I spent £220 on lights, I have been flashed by the odd car for them being too bright, I turn them down so as not to offend. I wear Hi Viz as I want to be seen, I prefer not getting hit by cars, if nothing else, when sat in my wheelchair in court it cant be used as a defence that I couldn't be seen.

just think all of the money you have wasted on bikes and lights etc, you could have spent on your scoob.

Fact is 80% of cyclists and 27% of their partners are pure benders. I'm totally against it. I blame primary schools as they set the the ball in motion by getting children to do their Cycling Proficiency Test and the next thing you know they are back door bandits.

you must be quite lucky where you live because in my experience very few people have lights or if they do use them.
it does cheer me up when it is raining or bloody cold to see people riding their bikes, but the the abuse you get when you offer them a lift! thats gratitude for you.

My comments are in red.
The country is fvcked but it has nothing to do with people not riding push bikes.
The cyclist would win (as an average) on every single socio economic measure
Better educated I am pretty well educated.
Better paid. More economically useful and productive (pay much much more tax) I have a good job and pay massive amounts of tax.
Higher intelligence I would say I am fairly intelligent.
Fitter, healthier - less drain on the NHS I am fit and health and NO drain on the NHS at all.
Lower criminal conviction rate Never been convicted of a crime.
Lower use of the welfare state Never used the welfare state.
And on and on
The anti cycling attitude just sums why this country is fvcked tbh

Was in the car today and when driving home encountered 5 cyclists in seven miles, three in a group and they were in single file, slight delay and I passed them, passed the other two the same way, nice and wide at a sensible speed, I reckon they added about twenty or thirty seconds to my journey, its just such a non issue for me.

I hardley ever see any so as much as I hate anyone wearing lycra I can cope. 99 percent of the cyclists who annoy people are in London, living in Milton Keynes they have red ways to cycle on. I would love it though if central london was made prohibitively expensive for cars £500 per week to drive in the Ken-gestion zone and force people onto bikes, motorbikes and public transport, would make london a much nicer place to be.
