3d projector is the only way for me , not interested in a tv . I think ill wait and see how this tech unfolds and take it from there as I'm planning on a cinema room . I watched a bit of football in 3d and it seemed a little jerky .

LOL...no no mate i got you where agreeing was just really answering that; and the "pr1ck" thing was in general, as when i watched my brothers 3d i felt a monster pr1ck with the glasses on, especially since he had 3 sets, so my mrs could watch with us, did'nt mean you were a pr1ck at all

Thanks for the info also, interesting for sure - haven't been buying my ususal mags for a while now so am not as clued up on stuff.
I ducked to avoid that tennis ball! No not really. But it is pretty darned sweet! I'm actually well impressed with that 3D goggleless film.

I'm getting impatient now. I swear the manufacturers are purposely holding back technological developments (especially on LCD/LED and motion control) to maximise on profit. So i'm just getting a new 2D Plasma (Panny tx-p42v20) to tie me over.
It could take another 5 years before the ultimate LED or 3D tv comes out, by which time old age will have ravaged my eyesight
Same with the audio...that'll probably take 5 years before someone somewhere realises home-cinema-in-a-box units are typically rubbish (most have 1-way speakers FFS), and not everyone wants an array of seperate boxes and remotes.

lol, there isnt even a great deal of hd content out yet and people are bypassing it for 3d content of which there is even less content!
To the original op, what is advertised as led isnt actually led but led backlit. Led tvs do exist but they are not cheap.....
Personally I would go with a full hd tv, a decent one will have good quality SD

Ali with regards to holding back tech, you are spot on they do indeed do this to maximise profits, can't blame them but still very annoying.

Same with motion compensation, many modern sets struggle and either look too jerky, suffer motion blur or like they are playing a film too fast. Yet this frame processing technology was nearly perfected on the final generation of top of the range high refresh CRTs. Who knows when perfect motion processing goes mainstream.

It has everything to do with the underlying panel technology.
Given that there are only a few manufacturers making both LCD and Plasma screens, arguably Panasonic being the highest quality of these, do you not think that there is a very specific reason why they don't make their 3D TV's with LCD technology?
A quote from Panasonic directly.
"On the TV, [crosstalk] depends on how fast the TV can swap from the left eye image to the right eye image and then back to the left eye image again. It has always been the case that the response time of a plasma is much, much quicker than of an LCD.
"But there is a second type of crosstalk - from black into white - because an LCD always has to twist the crystals whether it needs to switch from black to white or white to black. And from black to white is a much more crucial crosstalk because LCD produces up to 35 per cent crosstalk when the pixels are changing from black to white, while plasma has zero crosstalk in this area."
They must be full of horse **** too

So now you try to cover yourself by saying that LCD/LED can produce a type of crosstalk that plasma cannot.
That is not the same as saying that plasma cannot produce crosstalk.
So, once again, cross talk has nothing to do with the underlying panel technology, it is to do with active 3D. The type of crosstalk can be different, even worse, but the fact that it is active is the underlying problem.
