Had Racerom added to my car a few weeks ago and am very pleased with the results . My car wouldn't run speed density smoothly below 1200 rpm so I couldn't remove the maf completely which is a pity but the improvement in driveability is massive . Although I didn't see any big gains on the dyno the car feels much more responsive on the road and it now pulls better from low revs in higher gears which is important on a daily driver . Also had a temp sensor fitted in the intercooler pipe .

There shouldn't be any reason, as such, why below 1200 rpm should be problematic. I have had to do some detail work in some areas though as the speed density as presented is not a perfect match and each car will require it adjusting to suit. Probably worth you getting another go at it since it seems a pity not to take complete advantage of it. Best to ask your tuner again as from what you say its fine everywhere else. What car is it btw ?

cheers

Ex Tileys white Hawkeye Bob , I believe you mapped it many moons ago for the previous owner . Spec is pretty similar but due to the blocks not being correctly machined first time around all the internals are new . It has always hunted around a bit at very low revs so I think the problem is related to my particular car rather than the software .

I remember that car, but it should not be an issue.

Really is worth another go. Speed Density will resolve maf type idle issues once set up and I would expect your car to be the same.

best regards

As I recall, the car / ecu needs to be a drive by wire type for the Race Rom patch.
I think that's 2006 on???

Correct, Ecutek never developed Race Rom for the earlier newage models or those using throttle cables.

You can have twin maps I believe on JDM newage cars or on earlier UK newage cars twin boost levels, plus I think you can have LC as well.

I think if you want the same functions as Race Rom on an earlier newage car then OS may be your only option.

If your car is a WRX then it can only have low and high boost levels. Only the STi models can have launch control in addition.

Open source Carberry rom is an option for it if it will work ... but not a very "nice" solution in terms of car feel and drivability ... plus its expensive to map as it takes a deal of time to get anything like what I consider "right".
Thats speaking for myself.

No, thats just the name of the rom file that has been mentioned, it was created by an American guy contrary to what you may hear in the UK.

Your car can use the EcuTek rom known as meggarom which provides two full sets of maps with gear by gear boost control to each. It has launch control as an addition

cheers
