I see trouble ahead
Scroungers mainly. Upperclass don't "need" to do anything, but at the same time they aren't a drain, so long as they remain and invest/bank in this country and input back into the economy. That can be in many forms, be it CGT, VAT on their last shopping spree in Harrods, the road/Co2/fuel tax on their Bentley Brooklands, the chauffeur they employ to drive it etc. Those that go beyond what is acceptable in minimising tax expendature via "hiding" funds from the tax man should be culpable (Vodafone for exmple, have got away with £billions of owned tax: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...ves-sour-taste ), There is nothing wrong with minimising a tax burden, but going beyond what is legally acceptable should be better enforced with greater penalty, negotiating for a vastly reduced sum post-event just reeks of the capitalistic greed this country has.
I also take issue with middle classes that claim a benefit to support their lifestyle at the expense of reducing the overall funds availabile to those on the breadline.
Scroungers just leach.

The way I see it is,I earn £10phr,not quite double the minimum wage, but I still cannot afford to buy an average price house,or raise a family without support. At the same time I also find my wage (through the tax system) is subsidising those (single parent) people earning £40.000 per year.Is that fair?
It isn't easy trying to find out wot percentage of the population earn minimum wage (although I do believe those on £35.000 per annum are in the top 10% of earners)so 90% earn less than this.Popular (un-official) opinion seems to be the vast majority earn LESS than £15.000 per year. Wotever the accurate figures, I'm sure you will agree, the "system" is not in favour of the lower earners.IS this fair?
If the answer is no to both these questions, then you are a socialist! (er, correct???) (I aint well edjewcated either, but I can see when I am being ripped off) companies in this country are dishonest, yes? They earn record profits in a (supposedly) Recession, yes? Politicians in this country are dishonest, yes? (er, do I need examples??) so why should someone be motivated into working for minimum wage for a company who earns record profits, for politicians who are corrupt and for a society who doesn't give a sh*t???
I agree with wot you said, but you have pointed out some major flaws, ie. paying VAT (at Harrods), with a bit of imagination is also Tax deductable, also keeping money in this country, The corporations in this country that employ eastern Europians from(predominantly) poorer countries do not care if they are sending their money "back home".

Power lies in the proles....

Prices, except for real luxury items, seem VERY high.
I'm not sure why, whether it's the weak £, or whether compnaies have put prices UP due to the recession, like Ford and Vauxhall did, but they are DEFO higher now than last year, and NOT by 3% either!
I have NOT bought three items I might have done, had prices still been at early 2010 levels, so therer's three sales lost from just one person.
Yet when we discussed this whole "raise prices during a recession" thing 18 months ago, LOADS of folk on here defended it.

Our local sandwich shop raised its prices and made its bagettues smaller. Just at the same time Greggs opened - big mistake.
Its a pickle for sure - inflation is on the up and the things driving inflation can't be controlled by raising interest rates.
IF, IF fuel and food prices drop then 18 months from now will all be wittering about deflation. Demand isn't actually increasing, demand is probably reducing but prices are still rising - IMO anyway.
