After reading the 40-plus scoobie owners thread I expected to see a few more Westerns and other 60s/70s classics in this list.
A Fistful of Dollars
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
High Plains Drifter
Once Upon a Time in the West (if you haven't seen this movie at least three times you should be taken out and shot immediately!)
Le Mans
Once Upon a Time in America
Day of the Jackal
The Poseidon Adventure
The French Connection 1 and 2
Dirty Harry trilogy
Guns of Navaronne
Escape from Colditz
Escape from Alcatraz

Right now, three of my favourite films come to my mind:
Shine
Kite Runner
Fightclub
On a different note, I quite like "White Man (or men, for what I remember) Can't Jump" as well. I also like Ace Ventura.

Similar era I think was Boyz in the hood, another one of my favourites.
Also Friday, an epic movie that I have seen many, many times. It's a shame the second was worse, and the third was worse still!
Oh, a really random film here.

When you see the cast, you think WTF?! But it's actually not a bad film.

Robocop
Favorites now:
Goodfellas
Casino
Godfather 2
Donnie Darko
LOTR

Watched 2 films last night:-
Unstoppable 8/10 Really cool runaway train film. I'm probably biased being a train fan and US trains are my favorite.
Skyline 0/10 Sorry but this film has absolutely nothing going for it. Stunned it even got into cinemas. Feels like a low budget pilot to a Fox TV series that will be canned after the first series. Awful.
I agree, a great film, on so many levels.
Very simple, yet it is still quite intense.
I watched a film called 'The Kid' last night. It's based on a true story and the book was a best seller in the charts.
A truly moving film, and not for the feint hearted.

It is a real MUST SEE.

War of the worlds (original from 1953, not the Tom Cruise remake)
You can marvel at it with a trailer here http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi4260692249/
In runner up position...
Day of the Triffids (1962 version)
Bloody rubbish modern films....
