378mm discs fitted to new shape wrx
The clearance inside the outer edge of the rim probably won't be the problem. It will be the clearance between the caliper and the wheel spokes. They curve in towards the outer edge of the rim so the further the caliper is spaced out with a 378mm disc the less caliper clearance there will be on the spokes.
Looking at the pic of the Tecno wheel, I will be surprised if there will be enough inside spoke clearance to move the caliper out another 24mm......time will tell!
You may have to have bells made up with more inset, if there is enough strut and track rod end clearance to achieve this.
You won't also increase the unsprung weight by just the weight of the discs, but also by the dirty great caliper mounting brackets you will need to space them out on 378mm discs...and that wheel is heavy to start with
Not trying to p1ss on your fireworks, but technically it isn't the best idea! (but I can understand where you are coming from re filling the wheel space up
).

Dave, good to put a face to a logon name, & the car looked awesome, though my 3 yr old said "that was noisy, daddy!!!"
Re your comments, I wasn't worried about unsprung weight.....I was into aesthetics, weight etc will come later.
All I wanted was to pull aside a Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren etc and the conversation will go
"Nice car"
"Yeah mine's quicker, 0-60 in sub 3"
"Right, mine has bigger discs 355 vs my 378's"
"****"
"****, but I have bigger brakes"
Though Dave just received the plans & I will have 7mm of clearance between caliper & wheel.....tight.....but then we all like them tight!!

Dave sorry a PS
Someone had to go for 378's & I saved a fortune on not going for an STi 7, let alone 2.
So no pi55ing on my fireworks, as one of my contacts at AMG said they could do ceramic 8 pots for the Subaru......R & D £15k
Ouch but they would have been awesome.......I'm still thinking.......yeah it still hurts
A bit like wax & S"n"M, it hurts but christ I love it........

Thanks guys.
The brakes are awesome, even the driver gets thrown forward.
The wheels are very nice I have always liked them since my Intergrale days, the tyres I am not sure about they squeel like pigs on bends but I donno if this is for different reasons other than they are not as grippy as SO3s or Toyos or because they are 35 profile therefor stiffer or because thetyre pressure may be too high.
I am sure someone here will be able to help.
DaveTS. Why did you sell the wheels and why did you put 225-35-18 on them and not something else. Why Falken? Is there something about them I don't know, are they track specials or what?
J.

Those Compo's came off my 22B, hence the 35 profile, I had the Falkens put on to replace the slicks I was running before, I went with cheapies because I wanted less grip and more fun then the SO2's I usually run.

Yeah, good to meet you on Saturday. From the "fill up the wheels" point of view, they are going to look good!
Good point about the STi's, nice of Mrs T-S to buy them LOL
Joseph
Chuck has beaten me to it
They were his wheels, and I bought them to use as track day wheels with the Falkens already fitted
They've done more mileage in the last year being transported round the country from one owner to another than they have done on a car LOL

Spoke to Colin @ KAD & he will be borrowing a wheel of mine to ensure a perfect fit.
Though if people do want these 378's they may have to buy the Sao Paulo first, or suitable alternative.
So thanks to Scooby Sport for the loan & KADS for the caliper & disc setup.....

The brakes are awesome, now fully bedded in & from 80-0, brilliant. trying to find a track day within the next 2 weeks to test them fully.
Great pedal feel too, though will have to clean the wheels a lot more as more brake dust; must be the different pad compund

About 4 weeks now, though with 7 mm to spare I'm seriously considering 380's
Once they are fitted I will post the new pictures with discs inside the wheel.
I think I'm able to have cross drilled discs, but waiting for confirmation
Next week the actual wheel will be used with the set up & then it will take some adjustments to get the brake kit spot on.
SO it maybe earlier than expected, but of course there will have to be a "test period"....

For those with TechnoMagnesia wheels @ 18 inches. I'm having the wheels measured tomorrow, for the final measurements before the 378's are fitted.
I believe the TM's are the same shape with exception to the face, so for those with these wheels .......a massive brake set may be available really soon.
Will keep you posted..

Nope, the 378 disc have arrived & you can feast a party of 10 off of each one.
The brake calliper is currently being machined & will be larger than the current 6 pot calliper available with the Scoobysport KAD 330 mm brake kit.
The mounting brackets & callipers have to be annodised which should happen the 2nd week in June & the kit will then be put on my car around the 3rd week of June.
So it won't be long.........as soon as they have been fitted I'll post the piccies & we will in time have some data logging to give performance of stopping time & distances..........

Save your money and buy a decent set of wheels knowelsy!!!!!! then worry about brakes..Ive got 600 mm discs on mine, I just took the wheels off and run my disc on the ground, with elastic bands round the edges for tyres. I had to to cope with my 600BHP Nitrous kit on top of my 500bhp turbo engine
still got puny std discs at the rear though

Why dont you get the AP 8 pot LC kit with 378mm 2 piece discs and light wheels instead of machining down the caliper and anodising stuff and messing around with the brakes and inadequate calipers, havy wheels and bad tyres??
