think he means he filled it up a week ago and added 1 LT, bit if it was as you said Urban it would have been in long before if it was mine.

Most have shafted after service and just drunk the oil.

Not on mine. 3 years & 35k miles under the belt with PPP. Continue to keep fingers crossed as I'd be stuffed of it did go pop!

Date bought: october 2009
Mileage: 40k
Date of failure: march 2012
Outcome: Piston on cylinder 2 Cracked without damaging Bores, also Headgasket Failure on cylinder 1-3

PPP been fitted at 7k

No warranty on engine So Built my own Forged 2.5, with stronger big ends, mahle rods , and cosis headgaskeds

Been told on stronger pistons shouldn't expect any probs any more

Subaru should take some action with this new 2.5 - very rarely hear about 2.0 problems

Don't worry about fuel gauge , foot down wherever reasonable possible , 4k+ on rev counter , track days ,rally days

I've try to use this car as been designed to use

You can add another to the list:

My June 2010 330R (STi UK limited edition, with the Prodrive Pack), 33k miles, will be having its engine pulled out on Tuesday. A compression test was done on it this morning and no 4 cylinder is only half the compression of the other three

Car is completely standard and unmodified. Never been on track, not driven bouncing off the rev limiter, wasn't using any oil.

It was one of the deciding factors in putting me off the STi and going for an RS in the end.

And me turning to Alfa. It was a case of head and heart, and head won and I went to Alfa, which is a strange one!!!

Still dip and in and out of scoobynet though, and part of me still wonders...

Mine was the opposite. WRX STi Hatch was the heart and RS the head. Ringland issues, high RFL, killer depreciation and limited 2nd hand supply of hatches made me choose with my head for once

ye, they shot themselves nicely in the foot. here in SA, they blame the low octane(95RON) for the failure, but clearly they fail everywhere 'rund the world. Even where 98 and higher octanes are available. What's astonishing though is how arrogant Subaru are by not fixing the issue...

Default Another one bites the dust

People, add my 330s (39K) to the list. Yes 3 weeks or so ago the engine management light came on and the car sounded decidedly rough i.e. missing. Had the mechanic have a look and 50 psi on No 2 piston. Ended up rings and piston gone and a engine full of metal fillings. £4k to put right. Have now traded it in for a Focus RS. (after the rebuild). Wake up Subaru as you are loosing customers faster than you getting them!!!! But hey must be us owners according to Subaru cause theres nothing wrong with all these blown engines!!

This list continues to grow and grow. Its just shocking to read the engine failures with the 2.5 hatches.

Lol FORD seem to be doing well out of it though as you’re the 3rd in about the space of a month to get an RS. Admittedly I didn’t have an STi but I was very close to buying one but my head kicked in and overuled my heart.

we dont have any in the uk failed Honey, im presuming your referring to the american ones that blow. since the new saloon the UK has had none go as far as we are aware.

Ive been trolling that forum, and most are COBB access ports which seem to be failing, if you read further the yanks have just had an update to their ECU, which may have fixed whatever the American cars had, most probably poor fuel maps.

but i know nothing lol
