How do i stop my puppy attacking me?
*tears of laughter*
Tiggs you realise you are the lowest ranking in his pack?

Figures

I rest my case

*falls of chair and now in pain with this at the thought of dog attacking Tiggs for trying to stop dog attacking shed to get to mouse*

Christ, if you dress up as a moose he'll probably kill you

i may be the lowest in the pack but until he figures out how to use yellow pages and call a locksmith he aint getting out of the cage i lock him in when hes bad!
have to trick him in to it with a kong the size of a small child!
Tiggs
ps- another funny story... was out running the two lurchers and the BT- one lurcher ran straight into the BT by mistake- smacked him in the face at about 120mph!
anyway, lurcher spent 20 mins rolling around on the floor- i thought it was gonna die in front of me (whimpyest dogs in the world) when it finally calmed down i was able to check nothing had fallen off and the dog was fine- then i noticed BT, sat next to me watching the whole time, not making a sound.... had 2 teeth missing and blood everywhere! stupid lurcher knocked half his nashers out and he didnt seem to notice!
BT are very, very dumb! (but funny)

That is an awful training method!!! Extremely cruel!
We've got a Border Terrier, now just one and he was into biting EVERYTHING left in mouth reach. He even re-decorated the hall for us by stripping our wallpaper.... I've also got a 4 year old cat who was exactly the same when she was tiny. You could be happily stroking her and then all of a sudden she went into Kitten-Kill mode and attempted to bite you.
Both learnt the correlation bewtixt biting me and getting suddenly sore ears, when I flicked the ends of them. Not enough to do any damage, obviously, but sudden and sharp enough to make them think about it..
The puppy is a little slow at learning, but he's getting there which is just as well as he has chewed umpteen shoes, *****, toys and cushions....and the cat is fine - no more biting.

I have 2 labs , a year apart , the older one was a bit boisterous as a pup , he was a biter until I bit him back lol , if I was playing with him he'd get a bit out of control biting , I would grad him by the top of his snout and push the side of his mouth into his tooth , soon got the message .
He's a brilliant dog , its just a stage they go through , we did cage train these 2 , the lab I had before chewed his way through the house and contents until he was 18 months old.
Labs are awesome dogs

Bloody hell how old is this thread? LOL
Puppys bite as part of learning how much force to use with their jaw ( bear in mind a dog can carry a egg without breaking the shell....as ours has been known to do if I leave the shopping on the floor..the little git
).
If using too much pressure when play biting they need be told it's too much...teaching his name and saying the "no" command and a tap on the nose normally does it. After a bit you should be able to just say his name followed by "no" and that will be enough....and then that very important command can be used whenever the dog does something naughty...of course reward with a little treat when he obeys to reinforce it.
Doesn't always work....as I've found when chasing the little bu**er that nicked the egg. Obviously telling him to drop it on a hard floor is going to break it and you try prising something out of a terrier's jaw. Bribing with ham works though

Did bite training in a weekend with our cocker spaniel. As Ali/others have said, biting is about working out what she can get away with without hurting the object they are biting. Normally they will be doing this with their litter-mates/parents but its you/your family instead.
Its very simple to deal with - when puppy bites hard, emit a loud yelp and stop playing/turn your back for 30 seconds. Gradually reduce the level at which you yelp - ie start with a sharp nip then reduce to general mouthing.
You look a plonker and I had the mick taken by the family whilst I did it, but they were grateful that at the end of the weekend, she'd completely stopped biting/nipping/chewing on humans.

From another perspective:
Animals are believed to have a very special ability to see thorough people. Therefore, some people, no matter how much they try, get permanently hated by certain animals/ animal pets. There's a possibility that the O.P.'s puppy was a good human in past life, but the O.P. was a disease carrying rat or something in his past life. Reincarnation changed the scenery, but the puppy can see the archived interior on the O.P. hence the attacks on him with permanent hatred. I'd give up trying.
