Hi guys, I thought I'd post back on here as some of you know what im after.

I was out having a play last nite around lakeside, essex area. When a blob eye STi went bombing past. Me being me I chased him for a while, we pulled up at some lights, and we both pulled away together, (in fact I was in front!) he was know quicker than me!! All the way upto to a ton, when we had to stop at a roundabout.

This is my problem, my brakes where cooked!! So before I do any of what I wanted to do, I was thinking maybe do the barkes first?

Any info would be great!

Does make sense to make sure your brakes are up to the job, first and foremost. That way, not only will they be sorted for when you get your power mods done, but you'll also have brakes that work properly... NOW! Which, evidently, you seem to need (don't we all though? )

That's it.

I only have the OEM 4-pots/295mm discs and am going for c.380bhp... knowing full well that they'll be hopeless for that power when 'on it' lol. Really should get a big brake kit on... FIRST! (but I won't lol).

Thing is, it's flawed thinking, cause if you have crap brakes for the power, then you're afraid to use them in anger! So fitting bigger brakes, because they work, give you confidence. This manifests itself in braking much later into corners, which is the equivalent of having more torque/power (for more acceleration/speed on the straights) anyway! As you're making up serious time in the corners, from your journey between A to B. Plus, the corners are the fun part, after all

The OEM 4-pots/295 discs fit straight onto your hubs. Best to fit Goodridge lines and possibly the brake master cylinder stopper mod. Fit decent pads - DS2500 are good and disc friendly (no metallic content). They'll be better than your crap 2pots, but not that great really.

For the outlay for the 4-pot kit above, then for bit more cost, I'd fit bigger brake kit like the K-Sport. You'll need at least 17" alloys (for the 330mm version). There's a great GB offer on at the mo from Apex - check it out...

94beaver, doesn't your 2002 Bug WRX alraedy have the OEM 4-pots/295mm discs set-up?

As said though, they're not that great (as you found out last night), so the K-Sport or other big bake kit will improve things no end...

Any ideas where to get them?

I want to fit the biggest size brakes I can. How do I know what size will fit? I have the standard 17's on

Bren @ Apex currently has a group buy on, so the kits are about £100 cheaper than RRP. Check it out in the Group Buys section.

The 330mm kit goes under most 17s+... the 356mm one goes under most 18s+
