All it does is email, contacts, and calendar that's what it says on there website??

I would genuinely be interested in how it saves you money and what else it does?

Go back and read again. You missed web hosting - saves me money - amongst many, many other more important things. Perhaps you should hold off from commenting on things you've read about on the Internet. That sort of misinformation is damaging and not at all helpfull.

found it I guess you mean mobileme Idisk! at $100 per year

Push email, push contacts, push calendars. - - All Free on android with instant sync with gmail/apps android also has Gtasks that auto syncs gmail tasks aswell all free

Find your misplaced iPhone and protect what’s on it. - Pretty sure there are plenty of free apps that do this on android market.

Share photos in an online Gallery - one touch upload to Picasa (other sites as well) on android free

Upload and share important files with iDisk.- plenty of FTP upload/download programs on android market free, plenty of web storage available free

I just can't see how it would save me or anyone money if I used it when everything it does is available free?

Android is a very good operating system. It is far more modern than silly windows. The apps are good, android is an open source OS so anybody can make applications for it so they don't have to be apple verified like iphone ones, this is good because it means there are lots and lots, the downside is some can be complete ****, but there is a rating system which is shown on every app you look at so you know if its worth downloading.

Is there anything you particularly want the phone to do?

I would highly recommend it

I am not inaccurate. All you have done is said that i was wrong. You have not said how or why i am wrong. You have in fact ignored some of my questions, or given blunt answers which basically translate as "yes i do know what that is" but then you haven't backed that up with a point or a proof to show that you actually know what you're talking about

Its the same as me asking if you know what 10 times 10 is, and you responding "yes i do" but not actually telling me the answer.

Bit offish there dont you think. The guy misses something and you want him to hang for it.

lol @ damaging, come on I think its all getting a little too serious here now. Frickin cyber slander or what

Boab74, Android interests me too mate, heard a lot of positives about it, and thankfully its not being rammed down peoples throats, just ticking away in the background, while gaining popularity.

Cheers to 18 for the PM's about Android alternatives too I am sure I will end up getting something sooner or later, just undecided what lol. Doubt it will be full touch whatever it is. Im far too "old fashioned" and "of dying breed" to leave keyboards behind fully lol

Scooby Soon, you may well be happy with a bunch of disparate applications bodged together to make an almost.me, you may well be happy with said free products being funded by advertising. That's your choice, in fact I don't think there's one 'free' google application that I don't make use of. But, some of us are prepared to pay for excellence.

I have to say though, I agree about the using the free apps. The Google apps do what I want them to do, sync, store and send. Im not bothered about pretty, im bothered about function. And it all seems to run pretty well for me, so thats me sorted and still in pocket.

Nothing wrong with paying for premium, if interface and presentation bothers you. But I dont see the point in stabbing at free because they dare to use adverts.

ooooook, I will let you have that one I guess. You have taken a lot in fairness.

But I dont really think it was damaging to the Apple empire, not too bad anyway.
Its a neat app, but im not sure I would wanna pay that much for it. But not using an iPhone I would not appreciate the seemless integration etc

Free is brilliant Snazy, it's my favorite price. How much is BIS, BES? And do you pay for it when google does everything for free.

If you want to get a phone and constantly pay out for stuff like $100 a year extra for email and calender then the Iphone is the way to go

If you want a fast developing platform with all the features of an iphone that has more things to customise and stacks of free apps but does not use itunes then try android 2.0

Contrary to popular belief there are no adverts on android phones apart from in certain free apps that you install yourself.

for example there is a great app called "mabilo" on android it has thousands and thousands of MP3 ring tones and notifications that you can download but while you use the program there is small bar showing text adverts about 7mm by 30mm. What do the MP3's cost you? nothing! as the app/server and running of mabilo are all paid for from that little advert bar that you dont have to click and only contains text.

Thanks google for making free apps possible

Just to be clear, iPhone users do not have to pay £100 for Mobile Me, it's something you can buy that may add value.

Android phones are selling at 60,000 a day and rapidly catching up the Iphone sales. Not too shabby sales for a new platform just over a year old.

There is still quite a few manufactures yet to release their phones onto the market

BIS is £2.50 a month. And Google does not offer what BIS does, so its a poor comparison really.
The BIS price is all my data too, so irrelivant.

BIS is free with most contract plans now, we do it from about £25 upwards, otherwise its £5 a month, same with pay as you go. BIS covers you for about 250MB of data (both email and browsing) and links you to the blackberr exchange which can push ANY email account to your phone, you can add up to 11 accounts to a blackberry, and they will push. Blackberry do also compress all the data that is used, so you get alot out of your bundle.

BES however is different, It's what business' would use for a business email address i think, i do not know loads about this as i have never had to sel it, but i think it lets you create your own email as in @whateveryouwant.com, a service which i am under the impression apple do not offer. BES is priced at the moment, but there are talks in making it free.

iPhone push email pushes Mobile.me, Yahoo, Microsoft active sync, and Google, as these servers do push.

What does BIS do differently to what?
BIS is Blackberry Internet Service, so basically handles all the data flow, comms between BBM, PUSH etc

I was watching something about this today. They were saying that a BB uses almost 1/3 of the data usage of most other smartphones.

Something about a dataflow issue as popularity increases, the demand increases, but the supply is limited.

Nice :-)

That addresses my number one gripe with full screen phones (Android or Windows) : There is no real keyboard. I use my HTC 740 for a LOT of emails during the day and I must have little buttons that go "click" when I press them.

Does that make me old-fashioned?

Popularity? Blackberry?

Don't you know only people buy iPhones nowadays?

That comment was with regard to misinformation in general, but take it as you wish. I should also state that I do own shares, and very nicely they've done too. And as for me getting a life, I'm enjoying this it fits in quite nicely with my bed rest, who asked you to butt in?
