I like the Audi but its just so damn "Audi" and send the ****-ometer off the scale, the Ford is liable to be driven by those on a mission as well but is just so rude, with no pretensions, hard not to like it, thuse far its fairly exclusive as well, only seen 2 or 3 of them, looks best in white I reckon. I would like one but its a bit lairy for all occasions, imagine turning up at a funeral in one what you need for funerals is a quiet, sobre black estate car so as not to attract attention but you need to watch that you dont get mistaken for the hearse....
Well seeing as you mention it, Matteeboys funeral service just launched...
Stilover - my Astra did similar with 20 less bhp. A great chassis 95% of the time but those damn front wheels were easy to spin when a quick getaway was needed.
Mind you, the Beemer rear wheels like a bit of "action" too - when the tyres had under 100 miles on them, they were spinning like mad. Much better now they are worn in...
Oops - off topic...
I'd have an S3 or a Golf R but I'd love to hire an FRS for a week or so. Same with cars like Evos - seems you can only hire top end supercars or cr4pheaps.

There are a lot of A3s dressed up to look like S3s though. I am not saying that's the case, but drawing conclusions from a brief blat should be taken with a large shovel of salt.
And yes I had a stage 3 ST for 3 years. Good, torquey car, but not the destroyer of everything!
It also has a big advantage with such a heavy engine over the front wheels (RS is the same) with regards to reducing wheelspin - making it much more benign with a lead foot.

In real everyday driving situations most cars in each class are similar when driven by normal folk.
It was an S3 as I know where they live now, I've seen it a few times, the bright blue one with chrome mirrors. I'm not saying I destroyed it, but they were trying to climb in my car's boot with their "I'm in an Audi S3, move over Ford peasant" attitude so when we got from the 40 zone to the 70 dual carriageway I gave it some beans and left them a bit, not by much but by more then zero and I was 3 up as well vs 1 up.

I agree fully on the brief blat and destroyer of everything comments, was just arguing against the nonsense "wipe the floor" comment.

Would it have been the same story if he'd have had his S3 remapped with the hammer map... 330bhp?

TBH she hated the car. Not cos of how it looked, but because it was Japanese. She was obviously around during the war, and spoke fluent German. Was nearly killed when a German Bomb Bombed her place of work on shift she had off.
Doesn't mind the Germans.
But knowing how the Japanses acted during the war with regards to prisioners, she hates them. So telling her my (then) new car was Japanese.......... The look said it all.

Wife's (late) Grandad was the same - he fought the Japs and saw some horrific things.
Could never forgive them. Same with the Germans too - was a proud German car owner for many years.
Does the hammer map involve tw4tting the ECU?

If my ST can match a std S3 then an RS will have no issue with it.

Had H & R springs and Miltek Cat-bac fitted today. The ride is 100% better than standard. Its now a smoother ride and looks loads better also. Not been through any town centre's yet tho. Ad for the Miltek. Wow it sound awesome now.

Interesting row/thread.. lol
Regarding the new RS, as much as I like the car, I just think it's pie eating fetish doesn't do it any favours..
Combined with the rumours about them not making the quoted power and fuelled more by the fact that when put against the stop watch the figures suggest something isn't right. Must of seen about 5 tests now with it struggling to do a sub 14 sec 0-100mph run. Plus when put up againt it's fettled younger brother (Mountune ST with 260bhp) it was also playing second fiddle (untill about 140mph)
It's a real shame though, as I really like the RS and it's road presence is just something else. Plus it does very well as a all rounder which is what a Hot Hatch is all about IMO. Just wish it was a bit quicker because I know if I had one and was having Mountune ST owners rattling past me with a smug grin on their face I would be distaught..
A 400bhp one would be interesting to see, especailly against the clock. Although Dreamscience's (IIRC) demo car which has similar mods only managed to crack a 12 sec 0-100mph run. Which with that power isn't exactly gob smacking!

The fact or fiction that cars are not making there 300 bhp was started by evo magazine
one of the mappers said every car they have put on the rollers has made the 300 mark bar one (298 bhp) and some have been over around 305bhp
A modded car can always be faster than a standard car thats why im spending £400 for the extra 40 bhp
im rolling roading my car in a couple of weeks to see what its doing

typical SN thread I see.
the White RS evo got a loan of was down on BHP on the RR, yet their own blue one they had as a long termer produced loads of extra torque as std.
it appears some of the earlier cars had a poor ecu map which has now been updated.
I agree in a drag from 0-60 a tuned RS aint going to beat an STI or equivalent simply because AWD is awesome off the line.
However, for all you disbelievers in FWD, all I say is you have to try it to believe how good the RS is.
"ST but it gives a damn good idea of what the RS is like" - erm no. wider track, different diff, different front suspension and geometry setup, different brakes and a different engine and turbo. That's like saying my 99 reg UK turbo gives me a good idea of what the 08 STI is like.
And yeah the RS is a bit of a porker, but it aint as heavy as the new STI hatch.
