Mk2 Focus RS 405bhp

Personally I like the Focus RS. Saw one in the flesh last week and I think it is a brutish looking car, just what it's meant to be. Wings and arches, just as controvental as the Escort was when it was released.
Torque steer is a good thing sometimes. In a way, it's the car letting you know that you are drivng something with a bit of power, much the same when you are correcting the steering with a rwd car when it's trying to gain traction.
If you don't like torque steer, then go get yourself a Fiat Cinqicento!

I had mine for my 40th last year, wasn't going to but it just sort of happened.
As I've said before, I was all set to put a deposit down on an RS when this bit of Pork came up for sale.
Still like the RS though, and if I could justify a 4th car (and afford one!) I'd possibly have one.

Firstly I haven't driven the new Ford FRS, however I have test driven & owned a few quick cars over the years (R32, S3, Z4M, Clio v6, various gtis). The Subaru or Evo will wipe the floor with all of them - even the Z4M I currently own would struggle! Yes the FRS is quick compared to a Golf Gti, but I personally think it would struggle with an >2007 Audi S3 or new Golf R20. The Evo/Sti is in another league I don’t think its fair to compare the cars. They should be pitched against M3, S4, Cayman S etc.....

The difrence between all the above cars (standard) is is a couple of seconds around most tracks so hardy wipe the floor and nobody is saying the RS is faster than anything else
if you think a well modded RS is an easy target...more fool you

I recently had a **** in a new shaped Audi S3, 58 plate IIRC, trying to climb into my boot so I gave it some lick and left them easily enough and they were trying hard.
Mine's a 300bhp ST and drives pretty much as the new RS so I doubt your info is totally correct. Depends who is driving as well, speed isn't everything.
There are some tests around of the new Golf R vs RS and they are pretty similar allegedly. Not bad when people reckon AWD is so much better than FWD.

Audi S3 is actually slightly quicker off the line (to 60 and 100) than an FRS. In fact I think it's still the quickest hot hatch - although the Golf R is about the same.
Focus is quite possibly more "fun" though.

All that is based on a clear traffic free road. In reality, on everyday roads with traffic, most cars (Golf R, FRS, S3 etc) would start at the same time, and get there at the same time.
However, AWD has it place other than outright point to point speed. How many days a year does it rain in Britain? Lots.
Even in my Golf, I'm sick of wheelspinning when exiting a junction in the rain if I want a quick getaway, and if the road is busy and I want to jump into a small gap? AWD would get me there, FWD wheelspinning might not, or make me look like a Boy racer wheel spinning out of a junction.

I like the Audi but its just so damn "Audi" and send the ****-ometer off the scale, the Ford is liable to be driven by those on a mission as well but is just so rude, with no pretensions, hard not to like it, thuse far its fairly exclusive as well, only seen 2 or 3 of them, looks best in white I reckon. I would like one but its a bit lairy for all occasions, imagine turning up at a funeral in one what you need for funerals is a quiet, sobre black estate car so as not to attract attention but you need to watch that you dont get mistaken for the hearse....

And yes I had a stage 3 ST for 3 years. Good, torquey car, but not the destroyer of everything!
It also has a big advantage with such a heavy engine over the front wheels (RS is the same) with regards to reducing wheelspin - making it much more benign with a lead foot.
