I used to slaughter evos in my old scooby
To be honest, you can build a cheap car nowadays that will beat quite a lot of faster things for less then you think, i had a mate years ago who fitted one of them stupid 2.0 turbo engines into a nova, and he was kind enough to give me the keys, while it was as gash as you might expect, the thing really shifted once you were over 60mph, under 60 and you could change lanes without using the steering wheel LOL
It did not cost him much to build, it was a hell of a lot cheaper then when i payed for my stock 97 WRX impreza at the time, yet is was faster once it had traction.
The point is though that for the majority of the time, we were not sitting on motorways, so he was unable to use his power or keep up.
It was also totally crasp at the drag strip
The car he was driving was effectively designed to handle 100bhp max, its old tech, people back then claimed more then 110/120bhp was madness, FWD was not cut out to handle it, and i could believe it as the cars at the time drove like ****e, but tech moves on, designers became more cunning in dialing out FWD traits, and power levels moved up, now people say 300bhp is to much for FWD, personally i would like to drive it before slagging it off, because tech moves on at a staggering pace.
AWD/4WD can be pretty crap once you are on track, especially if its dry.
Here is a good video, it is an MG ZS 180 that is running 300bhp and it seams more then capable of putting its power down, you do hear a little bit of wheel spin coming out from the corners, but it looks a complete doddle to drive on the limit.
YouTube - evo spin at donny
Amazing what a trick diff can do.....
This would not be the same result in the wet either, but then would you be driving on the limit in the wet??

id be up for a meet and a run out anytime and sti you can have a good drive of the car if you still think its pants you can tell the world but atleast you will have had a good drive of one (not like some ppl who just read lap times on the net and can quote anything under the power of a deisel 335)
I don't just quote lap times (surely an RS should excel at track work anyway?), I go from driving experience and the simple laws of physics. Please tell me which supercars are FWD then tell me which ones are RWD or AWD?
If someone claims an FRS is "as quick as" an Evo FQ360 driven by most people then they are talking merde.
Simple as.

Paul - your car is good. It's very good indeed. But once the BS starts, I have to flag it up.

feel free to flag up any bs ive posted
i dont need to post up "supercars" with fwd as the RS is not a supercar its a hot hatch no more no less its also not a track car its a everyday car kids, shopping, work and back ect,
for me id never reach the limits of an evo fq360 and probaby never with the rs i dont consider myself a great driver so for me id probably be as fast in in both cars
please dont try and correct me on this as i know me better than you do

A trap you fell right into on Pistonheads. Please come back, out of all the trolls that have been and gone, you have been the most overexcited, however at least you had a huge range of facts figures and magazine articles. Just a pity you were hung drawn quartered and spat out.

well this is what rob a SCC had to say
Blimey - word soon gets round....
The story is this.....
I have done nothing extra to the car - other than about 2000 miles !!
We had a car that wasnt making the 385 bhp it should make so had it on the dyno to data log what was going on...
We run it and then run mine to compare the data....
it run repeated runs at 403bhp !!
We also found the problem with the other car - it had a piperx air filter fitted which appeared to contaminate the air mass sensor with oil - we fitted my sensor and it then made the expexted power
Just maybe we under estimated the 385S conversion !!
so its the 385 kit making 403 bhp once run in

i rather keep it standard mate.. that much power down the front wheel just rather waste money. RS on its own its already a great car i believe..

just had a look ...he was stating that the 2wd is better than 4wd on the standard RS with 300ish bhp, we are talking 400+ bhp here on a front wheel drive car is insane exercise in wasting £££ !!!
if front wheel drive is that great ..why do all supercar manufacturers go rear wheel/awd
front wheel drive has its place (as rear wheel drive/awd ), just not on 400+ bhp cars !

ok fair comment, i cant say no more as i have never drove the 400bhp RS and yes evan i can see 400bhp might be a bit much for the car it handles 300bhp pretty easy i think with 350bhp it might need some tameing

paul ...make that alot of tameing ...i remembered a very long time ago(early nineties ) when I drove my m8's Mk1 escort turbo tuned by Turbo Dynamics with around 220 bhp, going in a straight line is great , come a bend and you apply the power ...torque steer was horrendous.
but if kept at 300ish ..its a great package ,
was tempted myself.....but as my P1 is running around 460 bhp didn't really see the point, so bought the E90 M3 instead .

An element of
http://www.veryscaryproductions.com/..._Box_Cover.jpg
no doubt FRS is an awesome car & of course it's not the fastest car in the world as you'd need to spend 100's of £000's for that ... indeed I'm sure no one on SNet can truly boast of that!

TBH i have read about 5/6 of the posts and everytime you see RS in the title you know there are ***** getting all stupid AGAIN. I couldnt care if the RS is better worse than anything. Its a great car that I enjoy as my weekend toy, i have had better cars, The Noble & the spec'C' all have there issues, i can use the RS where i felt that both the others i wouldnt/couldnt.
