Just spoke with Ecotek - they'll do the filter for £19.92 if added onto the valve order. He did say that the filter isn't essential as the filter gauze filters down to 30 microns which is all the additional filter can do - it will, however, prevent the valve from gumming up so quick (can be cleaned using washing up liquid). It does work unless there is vacuum in the plenum so can be used on the tapping that is usually used for the boost gauge, and fitted in the same line. Think we need a few opinions as to the best location.

forgot to say that the filter also acts as a silencer as the valve makes a 'gsping' noise on overrun.

Cool

My cheque will be in post tonight, so that should leave us requiring only 8 more.

Would be nice if I could then see a number beginning with a 2 for my fuel consuption

Don't forget to reference the CB-26P valve, Scoobynet discount and for Barclay's attention. My cheque will go in the morning

Question

Harj,

Any info on the independent Millers tests. A very good friend of mine is a Millers main agent and is seeking a response from Millers.

Lee

PS I get Millers at £2.50, a bottle treats 50 litres which is 5p a litre. SUL currently 11p a litre dearer locally.

There have been several comments here about the fitting of the Ecotek unit.

I drive 'em but can't fix 'em... So I'm a bit unsure of pulling hoses around under the bonnet.

Is there a consensus on where the unit should be fitted and how ?

Cheers,

SonicBoom

I think the valve location has 3 good options at the moment - the boost gauge tapping, the over-boost sensor hose or the dump valve hose. I'll give it more thought when mine arrives. I'm 100% confident there will be a suitable position. If it really gives a 10% ish improvement, I'll make that back within 2 months! )

Cool

Iain P - sounds good. I only live just down the road from these guys and I've been thinking of fitting one of these. Do Ecotek want to take some shots of an installation to put on their website. Happy to volunteer if required.

I am also ordering 2, one for my Legacy GT and Galant VRM. I think the Legacy engine is pretty similar to the Impreza's so anything you guys experience should apply to me. The petrol here in HK is the most expensive in the world according to a recent survey so anything to increase MPG is a plus!

I am actually in Hong Kong, but their dealer here are charging equivelant of 120pounds just for the standard device without the additional filter!! I will get my brother in UK to send it to me by DHL. For 2 units I am still saving a lot. I get the impression that it is pretty easy to install DIY.

Hope you guys can give me more info on the best place to fit it as I won't be getting any technical support here.

Thanks and keep the cheques rolling in to make up the magic 10.

apparently people are phoning Ecotek to get the group discount. Please don't 'cos the deal is for a cheque only and send it as I described. Please post here if you sent your cheque. He needs to receive at least 10 to get the low price. Mine went out first thing today.

Can I ask a stupid question relating to the Ecotek.

Their website says that "If the car has a cubic capacity of more than 2.6 litres two devices must be fitted in series and the one furthest from the inlet manifold tuned first."

Doesnt the turbo effectively make your engine perform like a bigger than 2.6 litre engine?

How many devices are you all fitting?

I take it I send a cheque for £61.56 to Ecotek

Don't think we have 10 orders yet. Please respond if you've sent a cheque.

Yep, count me in I`d love to get more than 120 miles outta 30litres. Cheque will b off tmorrow. Intrested in this 2.6 litre thing though. BTW does that price include p&p?

Oh yeah re Millers if it doesn`t do anythin it sure feels like it does. CVL is a must for track dayz But if theres an indipendent report that sez different I`d b interested in c ing it 2.

I was a bit sceptical about this eco-thingy, but their www site is very good, and all seems to be on the level. Worth a try anyway. One worry I have - if this thing is letting air into the manifold, surely it's leaning the mixture? = hotter burn = risk of hole in piston? I've emailed ecotek about this

Anyway, I'll send my cheque off this morning and have a look-see.

About 2,6L questions:

Look it`s working only before turbo build up positive pressure. On no turbo mode is pretty good 2.0L engine.

The £41.64 includes P&P. Regarding a holed piston, the valve does not work when the turbo is on boost so doesn't affect the mixture. Looking good now for orders
Chris, I think it would be a good idea for a few people to fit their valves first to agree the best installation/location.

Silver surfer,

I think the offer only applies to the gold coloured one. If you check their web page, the blue and red ones are more expensive so I doubt they would give a discount on those. Its only aesthetic anyway, as long as it works like its supposed to!

The gold colour will match all the those yellow caps under the bonnet anyway!

Just so happens I also have a yellow OMP strut brace and yellow Samco intercooler hoses on the way!!!

The single order valves are gold. Had an e-mail from Ecotek who were not expecting seperate cheques and asumed I would be collecting at least 10 orders and sending in 1 payment a nd would be sent back to me in 1 package! I explained that it was a misunderstanding and that we would help sort out a recommended installation for them! I would suggest that if you are going to order a valve, send your cheque within the next day or so as this won't be an ongoing offer and any subsequent orders will need to be ordered in bulk but next time as a single order! Whoever gets their valve first could they please post a seperate thread and we can sort out the installation.
Cheers

I am not sure about Warranty but I just spoke
to my insurers (Eagle Star Direct) and it does not affect the premium.

Hi Iain
Have you decided where to put yours?
It is a tight fit in the dump v/v line but it will go and does not appear to have made any difference to the v/v's operation.
Let me know how you get on.

Cheers

NigeK
