WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
its running, sound a beast with the de-cat on!! was a little parraniod about the smoke comming from on the turbo but it smelt like burning WD40.
i have a couple of questions for you all tho, the bolt the you pop in the top of the turbo for the oil, (banjo bolt i think its called) has that got to be line up correctly as it has a little hole in it for the oil to go through? The hole in the bolt looked tiny like 1.5mm round. i can only assume its the right bolt as its the only 1 i have.
2nd silly question, there are 2 vac hoses on the turbo. 1 on the actuator, 1 on the exit pipe that goes to intercooler. what do these connect to the inlet?? (they are tiny)
3rd and final silly question... when i turn my ingition on, the temp gauge goes all the way up to hot. i obviously have somthing the wrong way round. would it be the 2 spade connectors that sit under the power steering pump and alternator that connect to sensors?
car did run rough at low revs but im assuming again that because i have some vac hoses off and the carbon filter is not connected. (coz it got dark)

alright g,well done mate!
the banjo bolt on top of the turbo just goes in and thats it mate, aslong as you have a copper washer either side of the pipe and its tight
vacuum pipes from actuator and turbo go to your boost solenoid buddy but diff years have diff set ups so would need to see solenoid etc to try and help you g,txt me some pics and i will see what i can
well done again mate and i told you it can be done

As for your slight issues as Tony said there are several set ups for Vac pipes need to compare to a similar set up. As for the temp guage, try swapping the connectors whats the worst that can happen.

i will double check that banjo bolt, there is deffo a copper washer underneath the pipe between turbo and pipe, not sure if there 1 between the bolt and pipe tho. (if that makes sense)

Running nice now thanks to El..... i got some of the boost pipes the wrong way round and it would tick over and rev fine but conk out when i went to drive it. Comparing it to Els scooby we managed to get it sorted.
1 thing im kicking my self for, the oil return pipe on the bottom of the turbo is not on properly so that where the moke is comming from.
so i gotta take all that off again and try and get it back on properly. was a little concerned as it felt really slow, was not pulling well. but after a couple of drives it seemed to of learned what happning and pushed me back into my seat!
i had to change the thermostat as it was leaking that was my only set back today.
so tomorrow, ill sort the turbo out and fingers crossed it should be back on the road!!
