Apologies for the delay in updating, but work comes first
So my previous summary finished around the end of Sunday the 19th July, yes, one week before TOTB!
I went to work on the Monday, whilst Paul and Mark battled on through Monday to get the car near to being able to run. I cam home from work at about 5pm and progress had been good. Pat soon joined us, along with David, and by 1am the time had come to fire up the bananna for the first time.
Before firing, we had to prime the oil system. Utilising all the sensors, fed through the Solaris, i could see on the digital dash during cranking the oil pressure reading, and we achieved over 5 bar on cranking, so the plugs were popped in and coils installed and it was time to fire.
At 1:15am on the 21st July it fired into life, and on the 3rd attempt, it was happy to idle all on its own. A brilliant first guess from Pat, who had spent some time populating the calibration files of the ECU.
One thing that was impressive, was just how quiet it was, staggering really.
Anyway, given the time we called it a day pretty soon after, and in the morning Paul and Mark loaded the car onto my trailer to take the car down to Zen for some dyno time to set the car up.
At this point, when i went to work, i was at a loss. I had lived and breathed this car for 3 and half months, seen it everyday, worked on it nearly every weekend, and suddenly it would be out of my sight. I knew it was in hands i can trust though.
Pat and Mark had agreed to meet Paul at Zen on Wednesday and finish off a few ecu feeds, and put the car on the dyno on Wednesday evening. The time was set for it to be worked out!

its just unbelievable, projects like this are what its all about a team of good mates (tuners) pull together working endless days and nights sustained on a diet of tea, chocolate digestives, and **** mags and this is the end result
well done, cant wait to here it fire up
just 1 question mark dont the rad and intercooler get hot, i asked paul this when they were building the goblin but had no reply.
AWSOME CAR

I think that by the time you Ceramic coat the Headers, Turbo Exhaust housing, Downpipe, etc (assuming Steven and the gang are doing this) there's not too much excess heat floating around.
Might be wrong though

Utaka, i am Steven, Mark is the owner of the car and owner of Lateral Performance.
We intended having all the headers, turbo and downpipe ceramic coated but we just didnt have time to get it done. The system was only finished one week before TOTB. We used some very good exhaust wrap instead.
As Dunx says, airflow is the key. Although data logs from its run at TOTB suggest there were no issues at all, with both the air intake temperature and the water temperature being fine.
The rad had two 8" fans added to the right of downpipe in this picture to assist with temps whilst stationery.

my appologies steven
im mat.i didnt realise it had two owners. ive been speaking a lot with mark recently about this car fueling ,8 injectors, pumps etc, with regaurds to my time attack car
thats a step in the right direction with this turbo setup i always thought it would have issues but glad to hear thats not the case, do you think tuners will all eventually choose this setup oover a rotated setup now youselves and zen have proven that it works

Hi Mat, its owned by Mark, i just drive it, and do a few other bits
The front mount turbo has its benefits as Andy Forrest and Zen have proven for the last 3 years, but it has a lot of added complications.

think ill stick with rotated for now i need a trouble free first time attack season as what budget that is left from this years budget wont pay for multiple issue rectifications or multiple rebuilds. super light good power around 550 bhp with good torque around 580 and more work on my driving before t.a next year

SO, the car went off to Zen for a bit of a session with Pat, Paul and Mark. At this point, its Wednesday before TOTB, and i am pacing around like an expectant father, whats happening with my Bannana!
Text messages, start piling in at unearthly hours of wednesday night and thursday morning, which basically say the car is run in, and running fine, with Paul and Mark finishing at 5am thursday morning!!!!
Thursday night and Friday morning is power time, i was getting various messages until Emma my wife, said enough, turn your damn phone off at 1:30am. At 7am i am up and off to work, but ringing the guys for answers, not knowing they only finished 3 hours before!
The best bit was reviewing the texts that had come through whilst the phone was on silent. The prominent one being 497bhp at 1bar! You can guess the rest, but this is what i was presented with upon the car arriving back at mine on the Friday night ready for TOTB.

Holy ****!
We had a few issues of a leak that needed delaing with, but by Sunday morning the car was ready for TOTB. The time was now!
Having gone through the changes of the car, i quickly decided i would run a gentle first run at TOTB, low boost and R888's were of the order rather than 2.1bar and MT Street drag tyres.
This is where a complete lack of seat time let me down. I launched the car hard, after staging on the handbrake, but had a complete brain fart, and pulled the handbrake instead of pulling the gearstick to select 2nd, this dropped the speed from 58mph down to 26mph before my brain worked out wtf i had done. Back on the power and off we go, to get a feel of the car.
This resulted in a 12.1 at 132mph. Not bad, given what had happend, and data logs suggested it took 2.4 seconds to go from 58 to 26 and back to 58!, So it looked promising!
Right, drag tyres on, and i am ready for full boost. In the car i get, and i reverse out of the pit space, when i see paul wiping his hand across his neck, and i quickly turn the engine off! I cant hear **** due to having the race helmet on, somebody tell me!
I get a sign to re crank, which i do, to be quickly followed by a cut throat sign again!!!
I sat there, and nearly cried. I couldnt speak, my heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears had gone into this, along with my friends for the last few months, and somethings gone wrong before i could show its potential!
It was terminal, big end suspected, which one we wont know till its split apart!
I can not describe how upset i was, how annoyed i was at letting the team down, because, the potential of the car would have helped Tem Subaru win TOTB for the 3rd year in a row!!
Thats motosport for you, some days you win, some you dont!

I had no idea this had happened. Gutted for you and everyone that worked on the car
Shame about not winning TOTB but it will make it all the more sweeter when we take the trophy back where it belongs

Looks like the dyno was being oversped at the top end, despite revving the motor to 8400 on occasion the dyno would top out at around 7600. If we had been able to rev it further (we could have chosen 3rd gear instead for low boost runs) it would have cleared 500hp at 1 bar.
