OK, I have three questions at the moment ...

What would be the advantage of paying an extra £200 for the Horizon over the Monitor system?

What happens if you sell your car ... can it be transferred or is that it?

Are any of the systems already mentioned more insurerer friendly than others?

Can anyone answer these please?

Thanks.

Rebecca. I only know about the Trackstar products, but:

The standard unit is dormant until you realise the car has been stolen and report it to the police (first) then RAC Trackstar. They then activate the transmitter. No good if you're away on holiday when it goes for a walk.

The Guardian and Protector systems are active whenever you leave the vehicle. Any unauthorised movement of the vehicle (which includes lifting onto a transporter or possibly even jacking it up to remove the wheels) activates an automatic signal to the control centre. They will then begin tracking the vehicle and attempt to contact you on agreed contact numbers.

All models also have an Emergency & Breakdown option available at extra cost, giving you instant contact with the control centre.

As for insurance, they are all Thatcham category Q approved. It really depends on the individual insurers which they prefer, but most would be happier with one of the automatic systems, as there is more chance of recovering the vehicle quickly.

All RAC Trackstar systems use the GPS system for tracking and AFAIK all work in Europe too.

Cool

The advantage of the horizon system is that they can tell the police where it is exactly rather than the coppers having to track a radio signal although i'm not sure how well this works if in a container etc As i said i was advised the tracker horizon only really worth while if yer driving yer car outside the UK.
Yes tracker is transferable when sold all u have to do is pay the subscription & pay an engineer type bloke 2 come out & check all is as it should be, at least mine did as it wasn't in use when i bort the car, which cost me arount £100 or so. Hence it also a value adding system when it comes 2 selling yer beloved motor (as if that'll ever happen)

Hi
Rebecca the answer to your questions is the horizon uses both gps traking and radio gsm to tell were the car is.the horizon has the right equipment to be upgraded to full europe cover IF it becomes available.all tracker systems stay with the car for life but anyone buying your car can have it test and use the fee for this at the momnent is £50+VAT this is done by tracker. All the systems i have list are Q rated for insurance

I mayhave mis-understood him, he was an officer of the Law in uniform.

Question

Adrian

Can you give us a run down of who wants what on this thread so we know how close we are. It may tempt a few more people in if they can see we only need say one person to get a group buy of one type of Tracker.

And BTTT

Cheers

Neal

for those after details of costs of the tracker it's on page 3 and the RAC trackstar details are on page 4.

(just in case you didn't want to wade through 6 pages ... but they are very informative pages)

mega - i am DEFINITELY interested in Navtrack. I have spoken to Puff about it and he mentioned you would be doing a group buy in another thread.

We have a new car coming in 3 weeks and want Navtrack on it asap.

BTW does Navtrack work outside the UK ?

Cheers

Dave

If anyone is wondering what the NavTrak Proactive is like to live with everyday, and you're going to Bolney on Saturday then come and have a chat with me (Markus - Blackbeast - MY94 WRX Wagon, you can't miss it! ) and I'll show you what it's like.

NOTE: I will NOT say where the tracker unit is, or could be located, for obvious reasons.

if this sounds too dodgy and we want to prevent scroates from seeing how it works then let me know and I'll edit this, plus apologise for being a plonker and posting it in the first place Suffice to say I'll check people out before showing them how it works, any dodgy looking geezers won't get a look, so that counts out most of us lot then

Cool

Druddle

Am aware & can supply

Essentially there are 2 choices.

Puff Way

Mega Way

Puff Way
is low initial cost/purchase followed by monthly rentals.

Mega Way is slightly higher initial cost follwed by lower monthly rentals equiv.

TCO means that Mega Way is slightly cheaper over a two year period.

Bottom line is getting a tracking device in your motah & hopefully get some scroates off the street.

Cool

In theory Navtrak will work in any country that has a 900mhz GSM mobile phone network

Only problem is that Navtrak don't have the maps to cover that area!!!

(NP as a lat & long is delivered and that can be given to the relevant police force for the country concerned )

Cool

druddle (again )

NP as neither mega or myself are making anything out of these deals, so should be absolute r/bottom price. Just let me (or mega) know what deal you want to go for & we'll get it sorted.

Now i have my head out of my ****, i will say that as i asked you about it, and you were so kind as to respond so quickly, then i would like you to supply it. I dont even mind if you bung a few quid on top to give you some beer tokens.
