I'm in....you can email the letter to me to the address in my profile cos I can print it out myself. Sure other people can do this if they are paranoid about giving out addresses (like me )

I would like this to extended to anyone who wants to air their concerns in a legitimate none-confrontational manner.. Whether you have ford fiesta an aston martin or whatever...
Thanks to all for offers of help.. I think what I'm going to do is set up a web site to allow people to view and comment on a draft letter.. register their real name and email address only. The email address will be verified with a post-back procedure to ensure the letter only goes forward with valid addresses.. This protects everyone's address from me.. and if the people who want receive the letter want to check the validity they can email a sample from the list.... Would that work for everyone?

I'm in, whatever way you want to do it.
It *is* positive action, and surprisingly enough every single letter tha your MP gets *must* receive a proper reply. Not just a "Thanks for your letter, now sod off" but a proper reply answering any specific questions you have.
If a whole bunch of MPs end up having to answer a whole lot of similar letters with the same points then they will notice. And if they don't answer right then they need to start looking for new jobs in a couple of year's time.
Alpine, if you need web space then I'm happy to host. Just mail me offlist.

I'm in for sending a letter to an MP/MP's
Also... Alpine's Comment 'If it's for spares could we agree to have numbers engraved in a certain place on the most expensive / most commonly recyled parts...'
Why not try to get a group-buy of microdots or indelible marking etc, lets make life hard for the bStards. The only way anything will change is if we do something, the police won't... heck, I'm all for witch hunts, if a scum is caught lets go round his house at 3:00am and kick his doors and face in

OK additional activist x 2
Hamster, when you started grumbling about wingers v direct action. I was expecting a group buy on balaclavas & CS Gas
Need a careful approach to "clearance" spares concept otherwise it will fall foul of Scoobynets libel/slander filter.

Sorry only just picked up Mattskies last line.
There's a nice concept, 50 people turn up n trash the place big style. Leaving an SIDC sticker on the way out.
Bet the mebership would double overnight and there'd be a club discount on insurance

How about an organised drive to Downing Street. If enough of us did it London would grind to a halt, that would make them take note. If you co-ordinate it with next Wednesday the police are partitioning the government as well on the pay/overtime thing, so they will have hardly anyone on duty to stop it!!

I'd be more than happy to join the letter writing, but I'll post them myself, thanks. The prospect of your PC with everyone's address being stolen doesn't bear thinking about
I have a friend who's chairman of the local motorcyclists' rights organisation; they're no strangers to campaigning. I'll see if he has any tips for making an effective protest.
Andy.
