That was so i could mount both ballast on one hanger. I bent the underside of one hager to support the 2nd ballast and cable tied the 2 together. It provided a strong, light and easy fix mate.
No need for anything glamourous... i mean im no perfectionist or anything

Hi Frayz, great work you have been doing. Who do you have your insurance with? Is it crazy with all your mods?

I would never put Morettes on mine mate, personally i hate em. but each to their own. I think the lights i have are the best bugeye lights out there.

Gary @ Keith Michaels does my insurance mate, im only 25 and every single mod is declared and insured. Its high but not crazy at all considering.

They dont look too bad on yours but personally not my thing.
Bonnet looks okay but i would paint some of it, looks a little thrown on, needs to have something connecting it to the rest of the car if you get what i mean.
Id be looking for a carbon scoop of the OEM sti size too, the WRX scoop is too small.

I know totally what you mean on the painting and think that would look great. However i wouldnt put an STI8 scoop on anything other than an 8. The huge scoop with its large lines dont lend itself well to the other bodystyles. Maybe get the bonnet semi painted and put the stock scoop back on, i think would look pretty neat.

Just a thought.
Ive been thinking about this one for a while. Seeing as nobody makes a splitter for the Prodrive bumper, and the fact that the bumper was designed on the 2002 WRC car. Why not put a WRC style rubber bib/strip along the bottom edge.
The bumper already has a small trim along its lower edge. If i was to mount it on here and continue it around the sides.
What do you think?

Looks interesting. It would give the impression of being lowered but don't know if it would create any downforce. But whatever idea you come up with for a splitter for prodrive bumper i'm sure there's a few others that would want in on the idea

Im sure a few little brackets can be made for the side sections too.
I dont need to lower the car anymore but it would give the impression from the front that the car is lower than it is. Not worried from a downforce point of view so much, although a reduction in air under the car is always good.
I think if it was done with some nice black fasteners it could look pretty sweet. And being rubber it wont damage easy... i hope lol.

Today saw a few goings on with the car.
Firstly it was taken to Zak so he could alter my MAF scaling since the swap to a different intake system. This was the first time the car has been touched since the cooler was fitted.
What we found was that we were able to run the same boost (1.7bar) and the same ignition that we had previously ran with meth/toluene on normal pump fuel.
This was really showing how much less restriction the cooler had over the old topmount and at how much cooler our charge temps were.
Lag has incresed slightly but not that i actually notice it. The lag is lower down, but seeing as i never drive in the lower rpm range this really isnt an issue for me. The pros far outweigh the cons in this area for me.
Secondly i decided to take a long route home tonight (working lates) and really bed in the new Pagid RS29 pads. These were warmed through with a series of medium stops followed by 5 big stops from high speed down to 20mph. This got the pads very very hot to the point they smelt aweful. This was then followed by me driving approx 15 miles at approx 40/50mph without touching the brake pedal at all. This allows the pads to cool evenly and bed in properly.
Then the next application of the brake pedal cleans the faces and the pads are ready to use.
Use them i did, as i wanted to see just how good the intercooler was. The results are pretty stunning to be honest.
For approx 10 miles of my favorite country lanes i gave the car absolute death. Death to the point where i had got the EGTs to over 880 degrees c and the oil up to a whopping 110 degrees c.
The ambient air temp this evening was 14 degrees outside and with all the stick i could throw at it the highest reading i saw was 16.8 degrees c at the throttlebody. The lowest was 11.2 degrees c. The temps sat at around the 12 degrees mark and thats where they stayed.
I was shocked to be honest as even i didnt expect it to be that good.
My old STI cooler was very very good but that still saw temps in the 30's at full tilt, exceptional for a topmount. But now you really can see just how good the APS unit is.
The car still isnt mapped in the higher gears so im careful in those but i have to say im delighted with the performance of the cooler.
Roll on 2.5ltr
Oh and my new Phormula KS3 showed knock to be well under control... cheers again Mogs

Frayz, it looks awsome. I don't believe you got to it so quick. You have answered the problem all us prodrive style owners have got. Please post instructions on the finished article
