T26 WRC - Frayz Engineering WRC S8 TARMAC SPECIAL - aka THE BOMBER

I'd go the vent route as it can be swathed into the aluminum bonnet. None of that nasty pug. There is a guy in Essex who is big in the classic car seen, he could roll you out a bonnet by hand, to your specification. He had a full spread article in Classic Car a couple of years ago. A master craftsman, fantastic results. He was charging about £45 per hour at the time.

Frayz, there is a company that does the work on the bonnets for the WRC cars, cant remember their name but Tiny may no, they go to a few of the car shows.
I think a proper one would look well on yours although I think carbon wouldnt look better, stick with the ali bonnet

Nothing on SGMs site now other than clothing.
From what i can see their vent is the S8 one, this is the blobeye vent which has a thinner outline to that of the S7.
I have found a genuine prodrive S7 bonnet but its £900.
Im well up for the vent but it MUST be as close to perfect as possible. Im slighhtly put off buying a full FRP bonet due to fitment quality. Fo r this reason id rather try and find a high quality vent and have the OEM ally bonnet cut.

Hi Frayz,
Really like your project and write ups.
If this is any help have attached link/photo of my WR1 which has SGM WRC vent. This was fitted at request of original owner when new.
The vent is blanked off underneath with black acrylic sheet and has drain holes for water.
SGM resprayed the bonnet etc last year and did a great job. Steve Goddard is very helpful and has good links with Prodrive who are just round the corner from SGM in Banbury.

Spoken to SGM this morning, they no longer do the vent but are looking to see if they can source me one.
I have also spoken with Rallytech and Ramsport who are also looking for a genuine vent.
Im gonna try Prodrive too, i desperately wanna find the genuine article. This could be a tough one

The vent is blanked off underneath with black acrylic sheet and has drain holes for water, so no the hot air doesn't flow into the scoop, but I guess there could be a bit of turbulence from the lip that upsets airflow, I'll never know. On WRC cars the hot air is meant to exit the vent but scoop is blanked off I believe.

The above bonnets are fibreglass Mark and im reluctant to fit a complete glass bonnet as im pretty sure the quality will be pretty poor.
I wont stand for shoddy panel gaps or rippley panels.
Dunno who i spoke to @ Prodrive, one of the engineers in the body dept i guess. He was very helpful and knoledgable. It certainly wasnt their tea boy

Wow, its nice to know I'm not the only one that went mad on my scoob - everyone I speak to thats a non-scooby owner thinks I'm nuts but they'll never understand.
Great motor m8y, I'm almost finished with mine, just bit more mods with engine/box mounts etc to take the torque, motorsport pump and Bob to do his final magic....oh and might get boot resprayed one day.
Really like the WRC rear spoiler, looks mint.
