Thanks
Its a weird feeling seeing someone else go off to rag the death out of your car. Had the same last August when Phil Glew was giving it all around Brands
Its the first time I have seen it drive away with the new set up though and I loved it.

A couple of updates:
1. The car is now aircon-less
Thanks to Julian for draining the gas out of the system and for assisting in the removal process but the various gubbins removed weigh quite a lot. plus the aircon rad blocked airflow to the rad so it should help cooling a little too.
2. The Horn now works
This has been bugging me since the car came back from Area 52 last year but basically everytime the horn was pressed it would blow a fuse and leave me without hazard lights or horn.
While the front of the car was dismantled i traced the wires from the horns and found the culprit. The wire for the right hand horn was trapped behind the mounting for the front mount so when that was installed, the horn was just earthing to the chassis and blowing the fuse.
Wiring un-trapped and new covering to stop the bare wire where it had worn through earthing again and routed through a grommet to the horn. I now have the traditional crappy horn that scoobies have

coming along very nicely Duncan... you need to slow down though!!! Yours looks to be done and sitting ready for the first round :O
Ours is in bits again after the power increase.... no doors, no glass etc LOL. Fee had it out for a shake down on the 1st and said its much faster
... so a lot still to do... Fit doors, windows, more cage bracing (door X), vinyl wrap, fit spitter, cannards and wing :|
Hopefully try and get it up to around 600bhp on E85 (currently 500bhp on 20% E85)... was 393bhp last year for reference.

Some nice figures Adam - that should go well.
I felt that when looking at the schedule that it needed to be done and tested in plenty of time so that the early rounds werent part of the development plan.

Well, it took me a while and again thanks to some guidance from Pat on the gear shift and gear cut strategies within Solaris... but I finally got it sorted.
Nice mound of wiring. All I had to do was cut the wire from the AC switch and feed in the wire from the clutch wire and solder them together. Firstly I got the wrong AC input so was put right on that.
There are only 140 wires to choose from in my defense

Then to amend some of the inputs and settings within Solaris to make it work.

1st->2nd gear shift worked a beaut as did 2nd->3rd and 3rd to 4th but 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th were throwing wobblies....
Some head-scratching and studying of logs (and more guidance) showed that it couldnt really decide what gear it was in when in 5th so I had to amend the driveRatios in the ecu to get it to figure it out perfectly.
End result ... job done - flat throttle shifting is working a treat
This means no spool up issues as it holds about 1.5 bar of boost between shifts

I was never really happy with the bonnet pics on my bonnet and now that the central catch has gone it was time to replace them with locking aerocatches. These look much neater and mean I don't have to tape over them for ring trips.
Anyway, today I decided it was time to fit them.
As the locating pics were already there it was relatively easy to decide where to put them. Marked out and ready to chain drill (I dont have a dremel):

After smoothing down with a grinding stone and 3 Layers of bonnet later and one is done:

Yesterday was the day to test and to learn....
I booked Phil Glew's services for the whole day yesterday to teach me a few things about how to drive imprezas fast. Having won Time Attack in 2007 with Zen Performance and won Brands last year with Zen too he seemed the perfect choice.
I am simply over the moon with how it went
Phil explained everything that he wanted me to do and I gradually built speed during the morning on low boost settings until the main learning points had stuck. At first, some of his suggestions felt alien but soon clicked and once nailed we moved on to others tips.
Then switched fuel to 50% E85/Tesco 99 and upped the boost and still the car felt balanced and well behaved. Wide was definitely a great plan.
Various tweaks were made to the car during the morning too but we were hardly off track in fairness all day apart from to let it cool down on occasion (and to allow me to take on fluids/food
)
Fantastic to have a completely incident free day, no dramas, no issues but also to test a few things and to learn lots from Phil. Highlight for me was playing with a Radical for a couple of laps ... he wasnt getting away until I missed a gear change doh.

Great also to give passenger laps to so many people while giving Phil a break and towards the end of the day when i was playing.
Superb day
but a few things to resolve that were highighted as needed now....
