hints? doesn't look like it's got REO70's on so you haven't got to worry about going sideways on the crap covered roads we have this time of year

Prodrive back box off ebay (couldn't believe how quiet the std exhaust was when i got mine!), Prodrive lowering springs and a proper geometry setup and you'll be well away

personally i'd do the springs and geo before worrying about arb's, i haen't bothered on mine and through different geo settings i've had 3 different handling cars so to speak. IMHO of course

Pop in sometime and l'll talk you out of some of the more silly ideas about modding it.

Warranty wise the rear box is acceptable as are simple day to day things.

But in any case we can repair the car under warranty for you providing we supply genuine Subaru parts. IM don't like it, but unfortunately for them it is European Law and comes within the ' block exemption rules '

Corra - yeah, both Brighton bands too, very similar - I wrote that track and "The Game" was very much an influence!

I was doing quite a bit in the folk rock scene, but it's calmed down a lot now. Got a decent gig in Bristol on Xmas eve, and next year I'm depping for a heavy folk rock band until they find a full time replacement - quite a few gigs in Germany with them - just gotta fit it around the day job....

Wife likes it too, bonus... and the baby slept - it's quieter than my MG which is quite refreshing, so whilst I love the Scooby sound, I think I'll keep it like that for a while.

Is it me, or am I feeling every single tiny little bump on motorways? I thought it was going to make me feel travel sick at one stage, but I'm actually wondering if one of the tyres isn't balanced correctly. Also, I've found a couple of times, just driving normally, where the road has tried to steer the car - the steering wheel did lead my hands a couple of times, and I had to compensate - not experienced that before either.

 

This is the nicest thread I've ever read on here.

Lovely story about your Grandad - he probably saw things in the war he'd rather not remember but its great that you've got your memoriesof him and his violin - and that you play it so well.

Yep, he escaped from a POW camp in Russia as part of his 'experience' of WW2 - he was a Spitfire Pilot in the Polish Air Force, based in the UK. I don't know all the story, but I need to get the info soon as Nan's pretty old now. It would be his birthday today too!

Dunno when/if I'll his plate but if I take the car down to Brighton at Xmas I'm going to try and re-create the photo

 

what tyres have you got fitted? sounds like the tramlining experience of REO70's, but in the pic they look like another make?

other than that, check the tyre pressures. i had a slow puncture that i wasn't aware of and the car felt very odd with about 10 psi down on one corner.

if that's ok i really would recomend a geometry set up, makes a massive difference! could save you money on tyres aswell if one wheel is well out.

i found the ride a little harsh aswell, especially with the rock hard bridgestones, believe it or not the Prodrive lowering springs actually smooth out the ride and absorb the bumps alot more. totally unexpected and highly recomended

 

Ah...

It's got Potenza RE040's on the front and Turanza ER300's on the rear - I'll get the pressures checked.

This bump thing - a couple of times now it's been around 3 very slight bumps every second for minutes at a time... very regular in pace.

 

do you have a cd I can buy? im loving those

 

i'd be looking at getting the same make all round the car mate, and probably not turanza (never heard of them!)

oh, and make sure the ones with the lowest tread are on the front, much better to have safe understeer rather than a loose rear end

might be the bump thing is you're in a car now where you'll feel the road a bit more? can be a bit bouncy i guess, but that's the price to pay for staying flat round the corners

 

That is one nice clean car. Really need to finish off my project car and sell up to get my new 4 door family car lol.

The other mp3 is a remix I did for a band I was in, we almost finished the CD before I had to leave and get a proper job (wife was expecting).

They're both Bridgestone... dunno why it has different types on front/back though. Tred is less on the front, the backs look nearly new.

Am looking forward to the experience, and FINALLY I can properly feel part of this forum Didn't get out in her today though, got reasonably bad back problems from the MG being written off - need to get back to the docs tomorrow, if I can ever get an appointment.

Was pleased I was able to walk away from it though....

 

And so the modding begins

When I first brought mine I felt the same. So here goes.

1) I have tried Pirrellis, Toyo's, etc, tyres and the best (noise wise) for me are the Toyo proxies T1-R. They offer better grip than the bridgestones you have too.
2) Try Car Soundproofing - Vehicle, Industrial and Marine Sound Proofing - Noisekiller UK they offer a kit for the subaru. Not only does it reduce noise but it also lets you feel as though you have a little better suspension as it absorbs noise from the road and vibrations under your feet. You will not regret it......
3) When you get chance get to one of the specialists (Zen, Powerstation, etc....) and mod it to about 350bhp
4) Then get brake pads, braided hoses and discs sorted.
5) Wheel alignment, ARB, ALK
6)....... and ha ha ha....

I'm at Zen's right now as I'm typing ...... using the wireless network...

I'm a tad annoyed, the insurance company have me hook+line. As the accident isn't finalised yet, I'm insurable so have had to update my current policy.. for an additional cost of £550 on top of the £650 I already paid... Confused.com was coming back with £630 with a no fault accident... oh well, and now the spending starts, lol....

 

Insurance companies always cancel policies where a car is written off or potentially written off . It is not unusual for you to find that you are uninsured until after the liabilities [ whose fault ? ] are settled. The you'll either get a credit or partial credit.

Fairly simple in your case. Someone ran into the back of you I.E. their fault. But the process must be completed.

You need a loss adjuster working for YOU, not your insurance company, to decide who pays for what and also the level of compensation necessary for your whiplash injury and those severe headaches that you have been getting ever since. I am also fairly sure that your bow arm will ache when you play the violin and being an international maestro that could be significant.

You MUST report that to your insurers and follow it all the way through with notes of visits and doctors reports.

The whiplash is potentially worth somewhere between £2000 and £4000 which would come in very handy.
