All this crappy idle talk on big injectors is like an old wives tale. It's all in the mapping. It was an issue with older injectors. Like the ph1 denso 850's but the new ones appear to be lot better.

Paul can you order some Cosworth pistons and hone the block for those please. I'm assuming I wont need to go oversize? What would you suggest clearance wise 0.003 in?

I look forward to see yours idle Daz, it will certainly settle a few past arguements if it idles as sweet as a nut.

Edit - I have seen people get the 850's to idle quite well Daz, issues with these are due to voltage at idle therefore having some Lag.

I think the Lateral Car has 8 X 1000 cc injectors and that idles very well.

My car and lateral car (same cams, same injectors) will both idle at 900rpm at 15:1 AFR. AVCS makes a big difference, good injectors have a different effect but also contribute to sweet idle.

Those denso 850cc side feed injectors (red top) are useless for idle and throttle response!

Finished painting the underside of the car atlast.

Remasked the car again.

First up was to stone chip the arches.

Then it was finally some time to apply some basecoat colour to the whole of the underneath of the car.

I let that flash of, cleaned my spray gun and then it was time to lacquer the underside of the whole car.

Thankfully that's the end of me painting whilst on my back.

Next on my to do list is to do the subframes, hubs and control arms. Then its time for reassembly

I bought myself a little compressor a while back. 25L 1.5hp. Ideal for spraying.

I've just done exactly the same thing to the underneath of my Type R. I think I'll be paying someone to do it next time. Its possibly the worst job in the entire world. I'm still getting paint out of my hair a week later

I did look i'd snorted a kilo of charlie about an hours ago. I had white snot!!

Fortunately I have one of those crawler things so I could manouvre under the whole car easily. I could imagine if you don't have one of those and don't get the car high enough it would be an absolute bitch of a job.

Either way that part of the job is done thank gawd!!

So reassembly starts.

Fuel tank refreshed and securing straps painted.

Fuel system

I've bought an inlet manifold from a Spec C Impreza (saves pissing about with TGV removal).

I've had to make some adaptors so that my new rails and injectors will fit onto the Spec C manifold.

They were a little rough but tidied up quite nicely.

These are the pictures before I tidied them up.

These are after the outside weld has been smoothed off and the adaptors have been painted with the same wrinkle paint that the manifold will be painted with tomorrow.

Nice stealthy theme.

This car will look the dogs nuts when complete !
Coming on well.

What exhaust system you got Burt? I have my old one (complete 2.5) but I guess you are going 3inch?

I saw Sy's car the other day with the new 4" system. Looks mad.

I'm having a 3 inch side exit one. It comes out drivers side bumber just infront of the wheel

Total pipe work from turbo to atmospher is about a foot and a half long
