A thing of the past with this government keeping records!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Student Cops aren't taught they have any/ how to use it.
Not like in the old days when the local cop walked the streets and came into your house to give you a b................ing before you got stopped driving

It should be a £30 fine and either a vehicle defect rectification notice or, a PG9I (I for immediate) notice. no points should be allocated for window tints. Unless you stated you know the tints are illegal??? Then you can be prosecuted for knowing driving a dangerous/defective vehicle on a public road.
If the officer was being a c**t, then he could have rang your insurance company to see if you are covered for the tints, and if they are going to continue to cover you. If they would refuse cover for the tints, then its a code 165 for no insurance/driving not in accordance.
Hope this helps clear things up a bit.
If I was you, then write to the courts (get a solicitor if required), and you should get the points removed.

As a motorbike rider i hate front tints with a passion. Nothing worse than approaching a junction with a car whose windows are that dark you can't see he driver.
Making eye contact with a driver lets you know the chances off him wiping you out are all but nill.
Nik.

Just a minor point here but why would you do something to your car that is a) Illegal, b) Likely to mean you will kill a pedestrian or cyclist because you can't see where you are going and c) Bleat about the fact that you've been done for it...oh I know it's cos you might look cool......
Christ, I love driving fast and have had all sorts of fast cars in the past but have spent money on the stuff that enables me to go faster. The next fashion accessory to make me look cool might be a blindfold but personally I won't fall for it. You obviously have you muppet. Blindfolds in cars are actually the next big cool looking thing. You read it here first

Yeah agree should maybe have taken them off sooner, but calling the guy a muppet for putting them on, when quite clearly he didn't is out of order. Anyway i don't like tints i like to be seen when i'm posing in my car
