Well mate it was absolutely fantastic , what a wicked day testing being my first ever beach trip but i came away learning alot & will be a little bit more prepared for the next one .
It's a long day just about 100 miles to the beach from ESC HQ , Once @ the beach you have the time it takes from being high tide to the time when the water comes in again @ back to where it was when you get there , Yesterday we arrived @ 9AM & had usable beach from then until approx 1.30 -2 PM depending on how brave you wanted to be with the water rapidly approaching closer to base camp , of course our Frayz was the last man sitting
The beach is huge mate a long narrow strip you get to use easily a mile long if not more of hard packed sand with a few puddles streams thrown in for good measure , It's not massively wide with room for about 2-3 buggies with kites to pass up & down , I Would say just about as wide as it gets @ the park .
You must be well prepared for ALL YOUR GEAR to get covered in sand & sh*** , I have only really just finished getting everything cleaned , washed down , dried , & put away ready for next time , This was even with 2 hours unloading , washing last night after we got home .
So in summary it's a great day ( as the surface it's unbelievable ) But it's a real long day for the actual time that you get to be flying , saying that i lost a good hour or so when i put the 3.M blurr in the drink & dragged it out bringing 1 tonne of Camber beach back to our base , and i flaffed about with making coffee & doing hot dogs @ lunchtime though witch were nice it's a complete waste of the precious time that you get made available , So will be taking a flask of coffee next time & vising the café on the way down for a full Monty to set me up for the day .
For me personally it was more of a learning to buggy again day with the all new "Tinyphoon" After a few tweaks with the position of the down tube i came away feeling very pleased with the way that she performed & cannot wait to get out again !!
I Have spoken with Al this morning regarding possibly another trip to Camber over the Xmas hol period if the tides & wind play ball again , if not the next trip will be to "Les Hemmes " in the new year where you have no need to worry about the tide coming in because the beach is 8 miles long & a mile deep

Nice write up slim, i spent a few hours cleaning all my kit again this morning.
But i gotta say, im so pleased with how all of my kit performed yesterday. Everything did its job and i did not get cold or wet once even when hitting puddles a near 30mph.
Oh yesterdays top speed was on the narrow axle flexi and was 27.8mph. Not bad concidering the big boys in their libre race buggys and huge Dpowers were running in the 33's

if you can remeber how the wind was on saturday, i'll draw a quick diagram in a minute to show you a fail safe way for getting back.
i had less kite area than anyone else on saturday and i was stuggling, straightlining back to base, but a slight tack across the beach and it was much easier.
ill post my diagram up in a bit. and hope it helps.
dont be disheartened though, it will all fall into place

to be honest Dazza, i was too worried about the other people around to start trying to tack on saturday.
Am going to spend some time on saturday in the corner on my own going round in circles....and using the wind in different directions.
Frayz, as said saturday mate, Dazza has first dibs, if he dosent want it then i am defo interested.
cheers

as in the diagram below, i was struggling to get back to base with my 3m, so employed a tack as followed by my crappy arrow system, no matter what kite anyone used, this would get them back to base, all be it a little slower than the direct route, plus to have the added benefit of being able to powerslide around the beach at the same time.
Also Liam was hampering progress by pitching up right in the middle of the run and not going anywhere!!
hope this helps
on the return tack towards the water, the kite would be pointing directly out to sea (90 degress to the beach) and on the tack back inland, would be pointing down the end of the beach away from the pegs.

edited to say, when you get to the water, get the power into the kite to catapult you round back inland, and the same from inland back out towards the sea, this is where the power and momentum is gained from in order to make headway back to base!!! cant wait to get out again!!!!

cheers frayz, its hard to explain it on the beach, but maybe you can sit with spally for a bit and me with ross. i think an hour or so and they would have it cracked on the field, although with gusts and/or tapering wind speeds it might be slightly more difficult.
i think we should get the cones out (i have some here i'll stick in the motor)
sorry i didnt get back to you about the axle/harness bud, but i will need to watch the funds over xmas and if anyone one else has expressed an interest, let them go ahead mate !!
