Picked up a mint unmolested tornado red 16v mk2 in March, and love it, had two Mk3's in the past not a patch on the mk2, heavy, poor handling but thats only my opinion.

Yep i'll give you that, the Mk3 springs are too soft i suppose, but it makes it more relaxing if you're not booting round lots of country lanes. Never thought the weight hindered it, my Mk3 would have left my Mk2 for dead, especially over about 40mph. Both great cars though. Modern GTi's have lost the plot.
