I dont understand why they never released it as it was unless there is some kit offered as an upgrade with the beefy front bumpers?

Gutted I was in Portugal when this thread was up. I work at VW main dealer in manchester and would've loved the popportunity to do a deal for you.....
Tell you what though, if they've promised you 1st sept, for a factory build NOW, thats ambitious!!!!! I'm quoting 20 weeks for the scirocco atm

£10k with all the bits. I'm at a crossroads right now. Love the GTR but finding it ever harder justifying £350 in fuel bills each month.
A Scirocco with DSG and cruise control could tick all the boxes: relaxing drive on the way into work (auto, cruise), reasonable economy (35mpg if it's the same as a Golf GTI), pride of ownership (she's a lovely looking thing) and fun when out in Wales chasing well pedalled BMW diesels (manual mode and possible remap)

And ...at the diesel!

Any style, colour you want for half that at Seat Surgeons
How many times do you need to adjust it and how hard was it before we had expensive electric ones
Because modern Halogen bulbs are rubbish
A decent aftermarket unit would maybe be better and cheaper
Autostyle
Heated seats would be nice with leather, heated washer jets should be standard, they are on my paltry Skoda.
Polished Bliss and some DIY
Nice car, but I couldn't justify the giddy exuberance you've displayed on the options list. Your money though

I could pick holes with any option on any car.
The seat is the biggest bug bear with me. I never seam to get completely comfortable with my seats. Currently the perfect position for me in my Scoob is imbetween the setting it's at and the next one back.
Heated seat came with the heated washer jets and headlight washers.
The better the lights the better. Subaru ones are sh*te so this time round I'm wanting the best lights I can get. Highly reccomended by Evo magazine when they had them on their Golf GTI.
As for the Dynaudio pack. Yes I could take it to a aftermarket Audio place and pay money to upgrade the speakers, or ................... VW could do it for me in the factory. I wouldn't change the head unit as it's a built-in touchscreen job. That has 6 stack CD, Ipod connection and 30gb Hard drive to store music on. Why would I want to change that?
Paint protection? Who said I paid for it? I didn't.

Don't know what would have changed that, maybe chosing DSG might have changed buid dates. On current build date the car should be at the dealer mid August. However I'll wait for September plate change to collect.
If they come back stating build date has now changed, and delivery is now October/November I'll probably cancel.

IMO I really don't like the look of the new Scirocco. It's far too much like every other jelly mould hatchback these days and doesn't look much different to a Golf GTI. The DSG takes the fun out of driving too. ( I have driven a Golf with this gearbox and hated it- It's an automatic for Sales reps who think they're Schumacher).
The original Scirocco's looks were a lot different to the Golf that was around at the same time - yet both of them were good looking and had far more character.
Rant about VW is over :-)

Fair enough. I don't like every car on the road either. However I would disagree that the new Scirocco looks like a Golf GTI. It's wider and much lower. If anything the new Scirocco is VW's interpretation of Audi Shooting Brake concept.

Arrrgggghhhh
Just recieved a call from the Dealer. It's going to be November delivery now
Over 4 months away. Don't know what to do. Stick with it or cancel and get my deposit back.
Bl00dy typical, went to the DVLA on Friday to get my plate put on retention. If I cancel and keep the Scoob, I'd want my plate putting back on.
Waste of £105

Just had another call from the dealer. Nothing to do with options, they've (VW) just been so inundated with orders that all production is put back
I got the November date slightly wrong. 1st week in November is the allocated build week. So delivery would be late November/early December.
Not sure I want to collect a brand new car in the middle of winter. For the first few months is never going to be clean. Constantly covered in road salt and winter grime.
VW have said they'll have a better idea next week once all the orders have been processed through, so build date may improve. Not holding my breath though

It's unlikely you would ever know for sure, could be an established customer that changes car every year, could be a mate, an employee, could even be someone prepared to pay more than list.

You've got me thinking now Matt. I'd love to be able to find out if this is the case.
TBH though I've more upset about spending £105 on the plate retention. If I'd been originally quoted December I probably would have left buying another car until next spring/summer. Probably would have gone for the new Focus RS (even though I wanted 4WD on it) or just keep the Impreza for another year or two.
If I'd only left going down to the DVLA until this week, I'd have told him on the phone today to give me my deposit back. I fancied a Friday afternoon off to get down the pub early.
Chances of getting £105 back off the dealer will be impossible. Also the £16 it's going to cost in admin charges to inform my insurance company of the plate change.

It`s not an automatic at all!
It has no torque converter for a start. It lowers CO2 compared to a manual, has fantastically smooth changes and can actually reduce fuel consumption. I agree it`s not suited to everybody`s driving style but to dismiss it as an automatic is unfair.

Probably will be the car to have in 2009. Why VW don't offer some exciting colours for the leather I don't know . Anyway, stop kidding yourself. You're going to wait. You know you are. You just don't want to. However, I have 10p that says you won't get it until next year. The dealer obviously lied to you from the start and I bet final delivery will slip into Jan/Feb which will leave you grumbling that you're only going to have the newest reg for a month or so.
I can totally understand why you went for this car, but I'd be awfully tempted to get a 123d for much the same money or it you must have petrol stretch to the 135. But if we all had as good taste as me we'd all be driving the same car .

Agreed, looks nothing like the Golf!
I'll bet it looks much much better in the flesh (looks wow in photos) Love the blue colour.
Stick with it, I don't think you'll be dissappointed, just frustrated on the wait.
IMHO That Blue would look great with a silver coloured Leather - make the interior stand out from the darker body instead of blending with it!?
