PMSFL @ Biker's
well i own 2 r1s
,,,, wadayya want me to do wizz out and buy a bike you can beat ,, hold up think steve mcqueens old 1960 triumph that was used in the great escape is coming up for auction , ile grab that as you might stand a chance , but then again probably not
.
steves just telling the camera man that on his way up here some numpty tried doing him in his scooby , but steve swatted him like a fly .
thus leaving the poor fellow to frequent his local boozer with tall stories of how fast his scoob is and over exagerating how much bhp he has got
as per usual
My GSX-R1000 K5 hits 150 in just over 10 seconds and that's in a quarter of a mile. It'll run into the rev limiter in 6th in comfortably under a mile. It has standard gearing. Jap bikes are "limited" to 186mph, and that equates to 11,700 in 6th gear. The speedo stops at 186, but the bike carries on revving out. Damn clever these Japs!
What that equates to in "true" mph is anyones guess. My Hayabusa showed 205mph at Bruntingthorpe and that was a true 189. That was standing start with the beam set at 1.25 miles. My Hayabusa accelerated slower than my GSX-R as it had the same power but weighed 48kg more!
Clear as mud!

my bike is listed 3rd on this list.. (2001 K1 gsxr 1000)
Perfomance Chart 1 - Motorcyles and Cars
also my bike is not standard, remapped ecu (yoshi), full titanium system.
my bike cost 3.2k, how much have you spent on your car to make it go slower than my bike?

your never going to beat a bike with a confident rider on it,
toasland kicked
5th gears tiff's **** round a track even manged to wheely past him for a laughs .
ride it drive it but use it
com u on over here to Northern ireland where we got the best biker road racers in the land, they will tell you the same, no way hosa would they keep up with a scooby on the back roads, one thing I do before I make statements is to ask the others in the know, my mate races supersports at Tandragee 100, Northwest 200, Isle Of Man TT and he is as mad as a hatter, but he said FFS catch a grip
But on A roads he wud whoop scoobys butt every time, even in a 600, but why race a bike, I reckon its a hormonal thing with bikers lol
but everybody is entitled to there opinion

Could be a close call then. As Banny posted a clip earlier, I did 194.8 (off the clock) speed trap measured at 1 mile from a standing start at TOTB 2 years ago. Was curious to compare what the real big bikes can do. Thanks for the info.
These threads do make me chuckle, pretty much like Steve
Now we are into spending as well
obviously my car costs a lot more than that as even my standard car is worth over 3 times what you paid !!!I went to the shops yesterday and my family, we were all sat there listening to music and came home with a boot full of shopping and not once when I was walking around the supermarket did I look like a power ranger

I even drove home without any worry of a car pulling out in front of me and even if they did I suppose my airbag and crumple zones on the car would keep me safe

Good entertainment. Bikes will always try and chase me/pass me, even when the family has been in the car. Usually get asked what the hell has been done to the car, as although I might not beat them I am much closer than what they thought. Through the twisties I am on the brakes to not run over some of the big bikes. Ridden quit hard, 120-150 clicks through some open fast corners, bikes way over and look absolutely awesome accelerating and changing direction.
I will be racing a relative who has a Kawasaki Z1000, in a few weeks time. I am going with the expectation that he will beat me over about 300 metres from a rolling start. He is not keen on a standing start, nor a blast from 60mph on.I think the fact that my car can see over 180mph has him worried.
He has been boasting for the past few weeks about how he will annihilate me.
He is very confident in a straight line but wil not race in the twisties. So he is prepared tobeat me in the straights but does not want to lose in the twisties.
I am out to have some fun, since he asked nicely.
Once he sees a close to 500bhp/500ft/lbs Subaru launch he will crap himself. Will post up the result once we run.
Before anyone gives me the lowdown on bikes, I have been a passenger on a few R1's and Hayabusa that were standard and modified.Convinced me not to by one as I am sure would be dead by now and I like my aircon when it is close to 40 degrees.

Chasing with the family in, fine example

I have to admit I'm just taking the **** and know my cars limtations ?? But I know for certain an R1 would leave an impreza never mind a hayabusa
unless your post has been misunderstood by myself ???

Now that is funny. Other than a bumpy country lane a car will not keep up with an average rider on a sports bike. You have to remember that a biker has to make the desicion on how much of the bikes limits to use. I raced a 911 turbo for a while the other day. I caught up to him proved I could stay with him for a few roundabouts then dropped back as going that quick on a sunday afternoon is far too dangerous. That 911 turbo is the only car I have ever come across that was anything like a challenge to a bike and I would consider myself a bad high speed rider.
I don't think that any poster has questioned the £'s vs bhp arguement when it comes to a bike vs a car. All that most of us are saying is that in the real world the performance difference is not that noticeable
I certainly have no trouble keeping up with or overtaking these "powerful" machines
TX.

A while back (I mean a while) I was driving near to where I live, wasn't going too fast
and these 2 bikers pulled up beside me giving me the nod. I looked around made sure the area was clear and gave the nod back.
We went flat out around roundabouts and across straight pieces of road. They were pulling away from me on the straights but I was wiping the floor with them on the roundabouts, plus the fact they were doing wheelies around the roundabouts wearing only jeans and a t-shirt.
I will admit some bikers are n*bs but only the ones who think they can beat you and are sore losers when you beat them. I have the up-most respect for the riders who were against me and other riders like them, they aren't afraid of riding and know what their limitations are.
I sort of understand where SteveBt is coming from with this topic and that's what I mean about thinking people like that are n*bs. Maybe if he'd given Steve the nod then things would have been different, but just to start gunning it and trying to make yourself look good because someone's car has just come on boost is a little bit sad IMO.
