PMSFL @ Biker's
I agree with steve to a point here.
Every bike i have came across in my Car has always tried to overtake me and nearly caused a few accidents by undertaking etc, even thogh they were doing 70-80.
Maybe a scoob is like a red rag to a bull, and they have to prove something.
I know that most bikes will leave my car for dead but do they have to prove it every time.

Of course ! being on a bike can be boring, no-one wants to play, playin with other bikes can be dangerous, more so than with a car and is a rare opportunity,so when i come across a scoob/evo/m5 etc, im hopin they will play,no point in playing with a 1.4 escort !
get over yaself, ya drive a fast car so why not take the bait and play, make their/my day !
I think you need to experiance both before you can make a valid comment. I can only go off my experiances and i know that my bike is a hell of a lot quicker than my car and i think that i am a better driver than i am a rider or at least take more risks in than car. When i'm on my bike i will play with cars and always respect the evo/scooby/M3or5s that i come across and if i cannot beat them then i will give em a wave and leave em alone. I dont bother with the barryboys 1.4 Halfords speacial waste of fuel. My suggestion would be go and try a big bike then you will understand just how fast they really are.

Why didn't someone just say that in the 1st place instead of trying to state the obvious on how quick some bikes are

I can see what you mean on a dead straight, smooth piece of asphalt ... add in some bumps, a bend or two, bit of wind & rain & let's see how he'd get on.
I'll always give bikes some stick. If they get lucky they can get away from me

Right you bloody shower lets clear this up
Having rode big (ish) bikes since 1991 i can compare to a high performance car. Admittedly i have not rode a big capacity sportsbike for a while since last night when a buddy let me have ago of his blade.
What i will say is this.
Conditions are everything - a twisty 'B' road and a car and bike are more evenly matched especially as a high performance car has (i wont say better) more exploitable grip, quicker stopping and the ability to change direction at speed better than a big bike.
It is imo easier to get near the limit of a car especially something like a Subaru which makes average numpties like me feel like Schumacher.
To get a bike anywhere near its limits you have to be a bit special and the margin for error is a lot and i mean a lot narrower.
However once those roads open a bit you would not stand a chance on acceleration (if a big bike is gunning it)
I have yet to drive a car that has scared me (yet) yet this Blade rearranged my mind on how quick something can accelerate and i'll admit riding a 150bhp bike i feckin' s**t myself.
yes there are 500bhp+ Scooby monsters that narrow the gap even more but the money that are normally thrown into these are astounding. You can buy a decent bike for 3 grand which will do a standing quarter in 10.5 seconds not that on the road that means anything.
Yes cars come close if the circumstance are right, i.e. twisty roads, tracks but when those straights open out just a bit then unless you've access to some serious tackle - Veyron, Zonda, LP640 and then only when the speeds get silly would you have any sort of chance.
And it all comes down to ***** - and lets face it most bikers think the're Carl Fogarty
Having rode a Blade last night now you might call me soft (ok i am) but after i got off for a minute i thought these things shouldn't be allowed on the road.
Big Bikes - mental!!!

Personally I think the 'proving yourself' idea is most likely all in the original poster's mind.
Perhaps the biker wanted to see what a reasonably nippy car could do? Maybe he wasn't concentrating? Maybe he was a crap rider? Maybe he just couldn't be bothered? Who knows?
What I do know is that I have more fun and a greater sensation of speed riding my GS than I do in my 996 (twin turbo- hehehehe
) which pushes out nearly 500bhp. It might not be empirically quicker but it sure as hell gets the adrenaline rushing faster.
Face facts- cage driving is for people with no cojones.

An old GS Suzuki - bloody hell they're getting on a bit aren't they?
Agree though even small bikes give a bigger rush because your not cocooned in a ton and a half of steel

I regularly overtake numerous bikes on the Nurburgring. All it means is that the people riding them are either
a>taking it easy and riding within their limits
or
b>numpties
I would challenge any of the rather sad cage only brigade on here to get on a bike and outrun a 1.8 Vectra- straight line or corners you would be toast.
What you people don't seem to realise is that getting out there on 2 wheels takes more ***** than you can ever imagine.

I think the idiots in cars that pull out at junctions without looking are the brainless ones my friend.
By the way i own a car as well as a bike and therefore i always look very carefully when emerging from a junction.

Let's compare like for like...a modded scoob versus a modded bike...

Maybe 08 Blade, Gixer 1000K7orK8, ZX-10, R1 or even a Busa or ZZR14. Just like to know if you have experianced any of these machines.
