civil service only allows smoke break at lunch time or after work. if you nip down for a quick smoke at 12 noon and then another sneaky one at 2pm when lunch is finished you are expected to mark down a 2hour lunch. i have had this happen to me when the head of our branch went out at 12 and came back at 2. she asked my boss if i took a 2 hour lunch that day. scooped or what

Most office workers only do about 4 hours work a day ( there was a report a few years back where they had put a couple of hidden cameras in an office to find out how much was being done ) - after you take off tea breaks, gossiping, looking at heat magazine, ringing friends, wandering about aimlessly etc....so I dont see a smoker having the odd 10 minute break as a problem.
I did some work for the Civil Service when I was in Uni, and because of working on PC's all the time, we were told to take at least 10 minutes every hour away from the screen - they had no problem with you taking a quick *** break as long as you didnt take the pee and spend all your time out there, and as long as you got the work done.
