335d beware!
Hmm, so a derestricted 209mph M5 is slower than a 175mph Scooby. And what about the Bentley Flying Spur at 195mph
The T25 is a tuned car, so that opens up a whole can of worms. Tuned RS4/6's pushing over 600bhp in 4 or 5 door form, reliably, and in comfort. Mercedes CLK DTM AMG cracks 199mph.

From: will be back in another scooby in time....
i agree i dont think the m5 will reach 200mph. its aero dynamics and its weight, i think its a claim made by its owners to make them self fell beter, lol

Most of the big BMW diesels sold are autos anyway, I struggled to find a 330D manual. It's probably not worth their effort to design a manual box specially for the torque of the 335D
not sure about the 335d, but the 330 d isnt up to much.
Just wiped the floor with one as this guy thought he would have a go.
should have seen the guys face
I think he was devestated
.
I bet hes gone home crying right now.

Mifo,
How do you think your car would would fair "before" it was re-mapped ?
Comparing a tuned car, to a standard car is a little pointless, that said, I reckon my standard 335d would still wipe the floor with your tuned WRX

Oh, hang on...
Actually, it's a "manual", that can't handle as much as an "auto".......

Well the guy driving the Bmw obviously wanted to compare his car to a wrx.
he commenced the test, Im just telling what the conclusion was
.Im not bothered that its stock its just the fact that Bmw drivers think they can beat most things just because they spent about 30 grand on a car.
Well for the money the 335d costs I hope you would beat me.
but if I spent 335d money on a scooby , then there wouldnt be a contest

What are you smoking? And can I have some?Suppose for a moment that they absolutely couldn't care less about some idiot in a tin box who mistook normal, smooth, effortlessly rapid progress for wanting to race. How would you tell the difference?
Could you tell the difference?
Did you tell the difference?
andy I dont know what your on !!
how can you not tell if somebody is racing you.
I noticed seeing as he was redlining the bmw in every gear and attempting to leave me behind , thats how I noticed.

just read my way through all of the thread...some interesting points...and some not so...lol
I have just purchased a 335d and its an awesome package. I have travelled some 1300miles in the last 10 days and it is returning an average of 39mpg. Mostly motorway miles...and not all on the inside lane ( if you know what i mean)
A fair bit cheaper to run than a scoob without a doubt.
I have had an 03sti... another good package...but for different reasons to the bmw.
I used my sti as a daily driver and loved it to bits and have made many friends on this and other forums via meets/shows etc...but the bmw in the 335d form is a very subtle and understated car. Performance out of the box is as good if not better than the scoob (imho of course) comfort levels are on a different planet totally, and residual value much better also.
Would i have another scoob on the road...too right i would. The ONLY car i have owned that put a smile on my face every time i drove it. The only downside for me is being a 25/30k a year motorist, i need something econimical to run , that ticks all the boxes, and some others, that the scoob just could not do.

Interesting Alan.
Would love to see the 2 of you on a track.
I think what both sides are saying here is>> BMW Expensive comfortable well engineered cars, cost a lot of money>>> Drivers attitudes>> Vary
Scooby Cars, much cheaper, also well engineered, not so comfortable, tuned ones very interesting.
The bottom line to me, as was posted by someone earlier on, £ for £ the Scoob is a better deal.
Kudos etc the BMW every time.
But being a person WHO comes from a Town that was twined with Beirut, Scooby for me every time.

Not certain, but I have a friend with an M3, an it left him standing, to the point where I didn't think he was trying ! That's not the latest 420bhp M3, but the one before.

My Octavia vRS is quick on the open road - the torque curve is like Table Mountain. Boot it in any gear from 30 mph upwards and it just takes off. I'm not comparing it to 330d, 335d, 335i, STi, etc.But its faster than my bosses 330i

It's petrol, not diesel
