I think she is still very young, I know puppy fat is a bit of an issue for some younger girls so when she is twenty or so I expect she will have slimmed down and if not, so what ?

 

If she was a fit-bodied person with unpretty face, people here and elsewhere will call her unpretty, I think. To some, Sara Jessica Parker is a perfect example of that. Generalised beauty judgements are usually about balance among various physical features. Neither being overweight nor being underweight goes down well for physical beauty critique. Victiria Beckham's thinness comes under debate too when it comes to judging beauty with "pleasing to eyes" parameters.

Even quite talented small and big screen actors get heavily criticised for their looks e.g. Daniel Craig. His talent gets overlooked, and his face becomes priority to general public for hammering it with dislike, and using terms like "dog" etc. I remember a discussion on him on SN, when his Bond film came out.

At the end of the day, other talents can easily overcome these superficial shortcomings like little overweighing, markings, scratches, and even limbless bodies, come on. I find Stephen Hawkin quite attractive due to his brain power. But when just the beauty alone is under debate, he can't be called Mel Gibson's competitor, let's face it. Robbie Coltrane is found quite attrative along with his 12" sausage appeal , but he still would be perceived as overweight.


Being a bit overweight is not a problem at all, most of us possess imperfect BMI. I think the point of discussion here is this girl's weight in relation with physical perfection ( she has entered a beauty contest), not her face, which is very attractive, no doubt. Glorifying overweight models would mean encouraging binge eating, and invitation to health problems. Just like thin models encourage anorexia among teenagers. No need for extremes IMO. If 0 is not acceptable, no need to go as far as 16. Somewhere above the middle like 10-12-14 will do IMO, depending upon the model's height.

She was on BBC news this morning.

The presenter put his foot in it by asking her if she was a good role model as she may be promoting laziness and eating ****.

She looked rather chunky - but they do say tv adds 7lbs

 

Whats the issue??. I have a very good friend whos 6 ft 2 and a size 16. Been trying to get into her knickers fo the last 14 years, but she still thinks of me as her brother!!!!.
Much better looking to me than any of the current cat walk lot.

Size 16 at 6'2" must be well-spread and well-proportioned in your goodlooking friend's case. In goodlooking Ms. Surrey's case, her pictures don't depict well-propotionate body with fat at right places and more muscle, with her being one of the contenders in the beauty contest.

That is the issue for some.

Some have approved of her as she is, in their posts.

No one is perfect, but close-to-perfection business is often talked in such context, if not desired in real life. It's simple to understand.

Admittingly, Ms. Surrey has more chances to pull the opposite sex than many of us here would ever have
