Cosworth Sump Baffles
The rear stay of the pickup bolts on top of the std windage tray holding the pickup at a set angle.
When you fit the cosworth tray, it needs to have the std windage tray removed so the rear stay of the pickup is 0.5mm further up. This may cause stress on the front of the pickup and may have been responsible for a small hairline fracture opening up at the front of the pick up pipe. When removed, and the std windage tray put back in, this fracture would close up and the oil pressure would be back to normal.
Therefore....
When I fit tomorrow I will be shimming the rear stay by the width of the std windage tray to avoid this stress and to keep the pickup at excatly the angle intended by Subaru.
This might be a worthwhile thing to do for future installs Alan

Good point, and well thought through, although I'm inclined to suggest that the crack might have been there all along!
Having said that, I'll contact Cosworth tomorrow, and suggest they add a shim spacer to the kit. As a support, I would have thought a washer would do it!
Two good things to come out of all this. Everybody has thought a whole lot more about breather systems, and we'll all be checking our pick up pipes for cracks!

Whether it was there or not or just barely there (not like the pic where i have opened it up to make it show up in the photo), the change of angle by a very small degree cant be good for even a std (and non faulty) pickup.
I am inclined to think that this change of angle either started the hairline crack or perpetuated it.
Note that the base of the pick up itself is sunk into the block so cannot change angle so would be stressing the join.
Now, i think it is probably a design fault with the top part of the 06 pickup, which is a shame as the rest of the sump and pick up looks a vast improvement over previous years.
Anyway - I will be able to confirm whether this is really the culprit tomorrow

Fitted and Oil Pressure is SPOT ON 
I did fit the shim to the rear stay though - I am convinced that this started the crack. I would def fit one for any future kits you fit.
I will report back on the actual objective for this at controlling sloshing and surge after Sunday excitement

Shaun your GroupN style sump has both a new tray with flaps and central tube to direct the oil around the pickup.

They also suffer catastrophic failure of these pipes on the Outback.I am feeling very lucky at the moment.
Hopefully it will live up to its billing on keeping the oil where it should be and out of the breathers at Donington.

Dynamix. I understand you have recently gone to Zen dry sump. How did u get on with this cossie baffle. Did it do the job?

Chris - if you are running slicks, I wouldn't rely on this cosworth plate to do enough to protect your engine. (not unless you are driving slowly
)
Fully baffled sump works great but once you get up to speed, the dry sump is the only full solution - you can still get oil surge with baffled sumps (even very good ones)
