The easy way is look at the front of the oe connector and wire as follows.

Right hand terminal is a live feed for high/low beam bulbs.

The top terminal is not used.

The left terminal is the switched earth for the high beam bulb.

Earth the low beam bulb directly to the inner wing.

You can also add a relay to the power feed if you want but that's optional.

Just got hold of a set of uk STI's for my bug. On the wiring front are the connections as follows ...Main & dip beam live fed to the one live....Switched earth for main to left hand connection ...Switched earth for dip to top connection...... Or do you take a live from the battery to the main beam live and the other live to the live connection in the block .....Thanks for any help

You just splice the live from your oe headlight connector into two and then send a live to the high and low beam bulbs.

Default JDM STI BUGEYE LIGHTS AUTO LEVEL ISSUE HELP

Hi

I have just read through this thread and as well as it been quite old I didnt notice anything that addressed my issue but could be wrong.

Question I have is I bought some JDM STI HID's that have the auto leveller but it doesnt work obviously and I need to adjust the lights as they are poniting down and to the left.

Richard Henrys garage said I need the wiring and connectors so they could adjust the lights for me but im just lost with what I need

Anyone point me in the right direction ??

All lights work just need help with adjusting the levels ??

Cheers

Rich

They do but both are siezed so was advised only way round it would be to use the electric motors to adjust them so was told I need the connecters, just not sure exactly what I need to get or where from.

Thats a good point but from what Jon said the amount your able to adjust on the eletronic adjuster is minimal, my left lamp isnt so bad its the right lamp is aiming to the left and to the ground, I can cope with it but not had her on a dark open road with no lights on yet.

With the motors you can drive the lights between four discrete positions. If both lights are set to the same level it's not a problem but if they are different you cannot match them. You cannot do any side to side adjustment with the motors either

Im really hoping someone can help me,

I've got some info from JonMc and also a Subaru wiring diagram, i have made my loom and somethings not right so il start from the beginning;

Ive got a bug WRX and have got myself a set of HID STi headlamps,

The problem is:

When i have no lights on and flash it is flashing my dipped lights (xenon) and when i turn my stalk to the second position (dipped lights) it turns on the xenons which is fine but on the the dash it shows that i have high beam on although i haven't... And the high beam isnt working right either

Using my wiring diagram and looking head on at the H4 plug on the body loom i read it as:

-------------------Positive-----------------------

High Sw. Earth---------------Dipped Sw. Earth

Which i make out the central pin to be the positive which i need to split, but i see people say the right hand pin is the one which needs to be split?

And because its HID i put the negative from the xenon ballast straight to a ground?

Don't suppose you have a wiring diagram or instructions?

Sorry for the essay.

Once i have done this I'm gonna make a detailed how to for others lol

From the rear the live is the right hand pin, centre is dipped and left is the main beam

That sounds about right, didn't want to pester you again by sending you another PM, i had a feeling that the wiring diagram i have could be wrong and you've just made me think it definitely is lol!

Il swap my pins around tomorrow, then all being well will make a how too for others lol.

thanks mate!

I read these threads, but do the STI lights actually work correctly ?

A WRX uses a dip/main bulb that switches from dip to main, whereas an STI uses a dip to which main is added for 100% output.

I had to fix a pair of corroded "add-ons" last year, and needed to create a proper relay based switching solution.

If you earth the dip beam bulb to the inner wing instead of the oem loom both beams light when on high beam.
