I got several quotes lower than my current premium, so I will give it another look when I come to renew.

Strangely, the company I am currently insured with, 'chose not to provide a quote at this time.'

Its alright until you get to the bottom of the 2nd page and it says:
We work hard to provide you with a good range of quotes. However, there are some circumstances where many insurers do not
provide quotes and we may not be able to help. To save you time before you start, the most common are:
If you have modified your car
or
If the registered owner is not you or a member of your family
We will ask you for personal and sensitive information about the drivers and their circumstances. Please ensure you only provide us with any sensitive information about other people with their agreement.
The information you provide, and the way we communicate with insurance providers, is secure and protected against unauthorised access.

I'm sure that most people stuffed up before they can start

I have just got a quote from Tesco compare
Now I am insured with Highway and all my mods are declared, I have just told a little white lie and said I had no mods so I would get a quote from Tesco compare. I pay atm £360 a year fully comp, protected, partner on the insurance etc. I just received the quote for £393.77p That's £33.77p dearer and without the mods declared. When I had business insurance on it, it was still only £390

That's because they don't have a deal with them. Same issue at confused.com et al... Direct Line for example won't quote via comparison sites so you get that message and "insurer is keeping costs down by not giving us a cut"

Try them yourself and they will usually quote.
