Check out www.subaru-forum.be. (my nickname is Subaru555 overthere )
We've had two massive meetings with approx. 80 Scooby's and I organise the "Vlaamse Ardennen rit" every year in december. I hope to get some Belgian Scoobyfans to the Subaru shootout.
Are you comming too at York?
Did you import your Scooby? I'm checking what I'll have to do to import a P1 or Type R from the UK. Is the car converted from RHD to LHD?

it's pretty easy to import a jdm sti.
first buy one from a uk private seller, this way the car would be allready SVA (uk homologation, worth for europe!) tested and MoT (controle technique!).
the selles has to give all the right documents, plate regulation paper, import document from japan, and the registration document.
with all these documents you only have to go to the "DOUANE" with a pink document (demande immatriculation) and it'll "dédouané" in 5 minutes paying only 5 cents!
after that call or go to the SERVICE HOMOLOGATION DE LA DIV to ask the agreement to pass the CONTROLE TECHNIQUE as the car if jdm doesen't have any CERTIFICAT DE CONFORMITE, so this way you'll pay about 200euros to have a custom CERTIFICAT DE CONFORMITE and the CONTROLE TECHNIQUE without any prob, as the car will pass with the allready existing mods!!
but the most important try to get some arrangement with your insurance company to do you a new green insurance paper not with the number plate but with the VIN NUMBER (numero chassis), remember to ask it to the seller in order to have it done when you have to pick up the car, this kind of "temporary insurance" is only for 14 days once the car arrives to belgium shores, during those days you have to do all i said before! normally there's no problem in doing all in under 14 days!
hope this will help you!
about the car, he's still RHD.
one more important thing, buy trough ebay a KMH/MPH converter/delimiter and a new speedo facia with 180MPH/290KMH, this way you can go true top speed and still drive in uk and europe as well
cheers!

We have plenty of meetings. Register on www.subaru-forum.be with my compliments, I think some of the members will be glad with such a unique Impreza in Belgium
The next one will be in may (hopefully not on the 27th) and we are also going to Bitburg and Luxemburg.
Do I get this straight
- Go to the UK after settling your temporary insurance with the VIN Number; Can I transfer my Belgian licence plate on the UK car for those 14 days? Or do I have to get and drive with the car with UK plates towards Belgium?
- Get all the right papers during sale
- Go to the douane
- Go to the 'Keuring'
And how do you find RHD? Any plans on converting it into LHD?
Thanks for the info. I'm looking around and hope to have some more info around the shoutout!

after that go to the douanes and with all the rights documents the car would become belgian and legal in 5 minutes for only 3 cents !
and after that you have to call or go to the "service homologation de la DIV" and ask for an agreement from them to let you do "une agrégation d'homologation a titre unique" and after that go straigh to the "control technique", it'll be about 200euros including the "certificat de conformité" and "control technique".
about the RHD, sincerely i prefer driving RHD!!! don't ask me why, but i do prefer! i see better the "priorité de droite" lol!! no plans for LHD, will stick with RHD.
keep me in touch for the meeting in may you said, sadly i can go to Elvington this year as i'm running out of money with all i've had to paid for the car and belgian taxes!
maybe if you want we can met some week and take a drink and you can see my blue dream
cheers!

It sounds all very simple.
Did you went yourself to the UK or was it a company that has checked the general state of the car? That's a big issue off course.
Pitty to hear you can't join the Belgian group to Elvington.
The meeting of SCB will be in Landen, hopefully not on the 27th and neither the weekend before. Otherwise I won't be able to join in.
As soon I start working in Brussels in stead of Amsterdam I'd like to meet and check out that blue dream of yours. Hopefully I'll get my own by the end of this year (Type R, P1....)

it was a real bargain! i sold my MY02 bugeyed wrx without hesitation! but hoppefully not bad surprise, the car is in good condition, the only thing i've to change were the plugs but for only 150euros!
if you want you can go to Auto Import Solutions or Neweraimports.co.uk, they both can buy a car that suits your needs but more expensive.
i was very lucky with my sti, believe me!
a personal advice about buying a P1 or type R, just go for the type R!! much better than the P1! ask around about that!
about the meeting in Landen, where is it, i mean in Belgium or Nederlands? wich date in may?
will be pleased to show you my blue baby lol
cheers

That's pretty risky, just go and buy on Ebay .
I saw some nice Impreza's on Ebay too, but I'd like to inspect (or have inspected) the car I'd like to buy in the UK. Maybe those import companies are the best solution (in Belgium we have extreme imports I think.
Why is it that the TypeR is better than the P1.
I would have thought it was the other way around But I don't mind since the TypeR Impreza's are cheaper than a P1
Landen is in Belgium, in Flemish Brabant and I think it will be on may 20th.
I hope I'll be able to attend the meeting, because normally I'm in Calais that weekend. Looking forward to see your blue dream though
cheers!

but the type r is much more raw! stiffer suspension, gr.n close ratio gearbox, dccd, roof vent, etc... believe me you won't be disapointed with it.
but don't buy one with such lower springs as mine lol , personnally i'm going to change the black sti dampers for the red ones from v5 sti, much better.
hope you'll be at Landen on the 20th the met!
p.s. what's your name mate?
cheers!

It's Cyr, not a very common name. What's yours
For the moment there is not much info.
Normally our meetings are free. First we gather on a parking lot and afterwards we have a tour in the region. As soon as I have more info, I'll let you know. And you can follow the progress at this link
Ow yes, the Type RA STi is also an option

Yeah, during the weekend I am a 'prince charmant'
And a WRX Plus comes in handy once you have a family.
For the moment I don't have to think about that yet .
On topic :
For the moment we have 8 cars (Dutch and Belgian) coming over to York.
@ Simon: have you received my pm's?
Really looking forward to it!

The Belgian thread
Looks good, so many options at Pistonheads and Ebay.
But I have to be patient. But after the Subaru Shootout I hope my patience will be rewarded

yes i do work for NA...in evere you know what i mean, but shuuuuut top secret
i'm APR for the spanish defense ministry.
so i come from Spain, exactly the south, Andalucia .
and you i suppose you're flemmish belgian, but i think you do speak well french also !
i would never understand politics trying to shatter this country for lenguage matters!
that's a pity, because i come from a country mixing cultures.
as i'm living in Kraainem i've noticed that 'flammands' and 'francophones' are living peacefully, without any problems, so...we're here to speak about our babies .
can you send me some pics of yours???
cheers mate!!

Andalucia... Must be a beautifull region too!
And well, I never start to explain the political situation in Belgium. As soon as I say we have 11 governments, people seem to loose there attention And you work in Evere... Exactly, big secret
Here some pics from our rather basis Legacy's.
I've tried to convince my dad to buy a SpecB, but taxes are way too high
